Oyster Bracelet Question - Incorrect spelling of Swssmade
Hi All,
New member here and first time rolex owner(not to be the last, upgrading from Omegas!). I purchased a 1979 Airking of a reputable seller on ebay(have bough watches in the past from him) and while I don't question the watches authenticity, I've noticed on the bracelet that it says underneath Registered...Swssmade instead of Swissmade. The bracelet looks and feels correct in every other department but this one thing is obviously bugging me. Can anybody offer advice and thanks in advance. http://www.glowfoto.com/static_image.../img5/glowfoto |

...hello Keith...
...the band is a FAULKER.
...the entire clasp is FAKE and most likely the rest of the band! |

You will never find Rolex making an error like that.
Millions of dollars spent on tools and dies and "oops!" a misprint? Rolex will throw away the tool and die before selling one with a misprint. |

Hope they take it back quietly and not think you switched it!

The seller has agreed to take the watch back, though he was shocked to hear about the bracelet. He's a powerseller with a 100% feedback in selling watches so I don't think he wanted any negative feedback. I had the rest of the watch authenticated by a friend who works for Rolex in the last hour who cofirmed the rest is authentic. Still its a shame, lesson learned and now I'll only buy with original papers.

Update: The seller has agreed to take back the watch, with all costs been incurred on his end. He was genuinely shocked that this had happened as he's a power seller with over 4000 watch sales. He said that the person who verifies his watches had authenticated this watch but obviously there was a slip up. He also has the person whom he bought it off details so he should have some comeback there. I had the rest of the watch verified by a friend who works for a roles AD here in Dublin so no problems that end.
Lesson learned this end and I'm now off to buy another rolex, this time with papers, etc. |

Name names and post links; the clown is a liar. After he gives you your money back it is your duty to the rest of the eBay buyers to expose him in his feedback. 100% feedback; can't even wipe with it.

Good observation, but they have misspelled verbiage on their bands before. The most notable is on the vintage Submariner 9315 band. Patented was spelled incorrectly on the diver's extention!

Just a quick update, after further investigation and a lot of stored knowledge on this site, I noticed the bracelet is stamped D12 and I believe these have popped up before and declared fake.

Spot on with the D12 you'll also see things like the caseback stickers with 16233 on all models :-) hang around and you see the works :-) Enjoy, Dave.
