A question for the inhabitants of Planet Panerai

Hi guys,
I'm a Rolex guy for sure, but am looking to buy my first Panerai sometime soon. I think I may have found one that seems quite appealing, and I need some advice from fellow TRF members who are much more acquainted with Panerai than I am. My question is this, is $4500 good for a
Paneria Ferrari Special edition Fer00004 LNIB with box and papers, and it was purchased BNIB seven months ago. Thanks guys and gals!

I think Ferrari and Panerai are discontinuing the co-branding.

There has been various debates about the Ferrari watch's collectibility in the long run (I won't touch that).

However, if you like the watch, buy it to wear it. I think some of the dealers are selling at closer to 60% off. You may also check with Greg (Mosco).

FWIW, the Ferrari line didn't sell well and I would say the relationship was not good.

good luck!

Uh oh, a a tarheel...just kidding!
My take would be to stay far away from the Ferrari watches. They're not considered real PAMs by most Paneristi, and the resale value is not good if you decide you don't like the piece.
How about a nice 000, 005, 111, or 112? For $4500 you could likely get a nice condition used piece with quite a bit of money left over.

The Ferrari line is certainly not for everyone and I've heard two sides of the story. First, they didn't sell well as a whole and many 'Risti folks aren't too fond of them. Then there's the other side: as people begin buying up the excess supply, they may very well become collectible. It wouldn't be the first time a watch became desireable after is was initially released.

Buy what you like though and GOOD LUCK!

As stated by the O/P, if its a keeper - go for it. Otherwise for that money, you can get BNIB 000 or maybe even 005.

Mosco (Greg) is the man. He has many versions (new) for awesome prices.

Be sure to leave me one.

For your 1st PAM, find a pre-owned manual wind 005 or a automatic 104/164.
Forget the Ferarri unless you plan to buy the car.

Panerai Ferrari Fer004

I took this one five minutes ago expressly for you:

A couple indoors:

Anyone who says this watch is not the equal of any Panerai has never worn one! The build and feel is incredible. Now, I don't mind if someone says they don't like the looks, but for people to dismiss it for any other reason just doesn't make sense to me. What is fair value for the watch? People comment on how low the value is for these Ferrari models. This one compares with the Daylight models which usually sell used between 5500 and 6500. So $4500 begins to sound very reasonable indeed, particularly since this model retails at a higher price than the 250 and 251.

I wear mine on the rubber from a 243. I absolutely adore it! Cheers!

i really wonder why they didnt stamp panerai ANYWHERE on the face of this series. If they did it would be much more in demand

Ferrarri PAM - no matter the price, is not my cup of tea. So I wouldn't touch it. Sorry. :(

True - trade-in to a dealer is not that great for about anything, including Luminors and Rads.
