Mizushima industrial zone pens

I lean towards Japanese pens. Solly cholly...

I generally 'print' and rather small. Something that has become "me" over time. But I take copious notes every day. For that reason, I tend to prefer the Japanese Fine and Extra Fine nibs.

I stumbled upon this "offering" and bought the lot. Can't wait for EMS to arrive from Japan.

I'll provide some thoughts and comments when I actually get to ink them up and put nib to paper.

Left to right is a Sailor Magna L, Pilot Elite, Pilot Volex (in a '74 and '77 vintage), and a Platinum. The Pilots are the short/long versions in different flavors.

Jim, congrats on the acquisition of the FP lot.
I was looking at the same item on the FPN and the sale closed after
you bought the whole lot.
Volex looks cool.

Joji, thank you. I had seen it earlier, but was curious about the pen on hold. I sent a PM and asked if he would consider selling as a lot with the "hold" pen, too. He responded with a good price for all and some extra goodies, too. Very friendly and was patient with my questions.

Ian, thank you for your comments. I have yet to see or try one. I suppose if I was to have a 'grail pen' the one I described in the recent Giveaway here would be it. I have seen and heard nothing but glowing reviews and comments, not only on the construction of the pens, but their writing qualities as well. One of these days...

I did not understand what "Mizushima Industiral Zone" was all about since Mizushima Industrial zone is well known for heavy Industry (oil rfinery, steel) and textile (jeans) and hardly anything to do with pens but the seller seemed to be a stellar member of the FPN and I guess you helped him to pay for his Japanese wedding.

I think it was, as he indicated, more like a gem in the rough of the "Blade Runner" scenery of the area as you described. Apparently he stumbled on the small stationary store in a back alley...

In any event, whether slick marketing or otherwise ( ) I'm sure looking forward to trying them out.

No surprise at all as I have found so many mint vintage items (toys, plastic model kits, anime character items etc.) in mom & pop shops in Japan.

OMG!!! Joji, you will certainly get me in trouble!

In just a quick glance (the page is still open, and I am headed that way in a moment) there is a WEALTH of information. While I've used Japanese pens, I never really sought out information such as this. Very interesting resource.

I'm sure I will spend a lot of time reading (if not spending money, too!) and ogling the wares while I wait. Of course, that would create more "waiting" and thus it perpetuates itself. I must be careful in my journey...
