Icon14 Renaissance Art cover

I've seen a few posts from Richard (Bisquitlips) regarding the Renaissance Art leather products. Yesterday, I bit the bullet and ordered the molasses brown leather cover for my Moleskine pocket cahiers.

Don't judge on the basis of this quick snapshot (with harsh lighting) but the leather cover is really well made, and has a nice "distressed" leather grain. It fits "snuggly" with the pocket cahier, but I can see where this is an advantage to keep the fit and form well adjusted. For size comparison, I've included a Pilot Elite short/long pen, and a Clairefontaine notebook.

The cover is about 150mm by 97mm. The pen is 117mm capped (and 145mm posted, or a diminutive 103mm from tip of nib to tail.)

I consider this a "test" order of their products. I looked at their other products and if they are of a similar quality, you can't go wrong.

You realize that we're all making each other broke?!

Those are excellent and add a great rich texture to the whole experience of writing.

As Richard suggests: it ain't fittin' to write with a $700 pen on a $1 notebook, it just ain't fittin'...

Jim, the cover looks very nice.
I have not had chance to pick one up yet but I will do so soon.
Looks like you've received the lot of Mizushima Industrial Zone pens as well.

RA make some quality products. I really enjoy my pocket moleskine leather journal cover, and lately have been eyeing their custom laptop bags.

Enjoy yours, Jim

Jim, that looks great! Do you know if they make them for the clairefontaines? The covers on them are a little less durable and it would be great to have one to preserve them whilst transporting the journals in bags and such!
I will have to check out the website!

As Chris and Leo said; no truer words have been spoken...

But it sure is fun discovering new "stuff".

Joji, the pens have arrived and I have inked and tried all but the SS Volex and the Platinum (that's next!) I do love each and every one so far. The Sailor Magna with EF writes a wonderful fine line. The Pilots have a nice smooth fine nib, and I like the small "pocket" size pens. The short/long concept really works IMHO; they are quite comfortable pens.

Thanks, Gus! I looked at Arthur's blog, and it was interesting to see how they are documenting one buyer's bag. They seem like really nice folks and have some very nice products.

Ian, I didn't see covers specifically for the Clairefontaine's. However, you might want to drop Arthur a note and inquire. You never know what they might come up with...

I will jim, thanks mate. Also I am off for the morning working but hopefully when I get back I will get to see some reviews of your new aquisitions

I am especially looking forward to pictures of the sailor!

Yesterday I was in Brinkhaus (the wonderful Rolex/Patek AD here) Irina who works there is responsible for selling the David Oscarsen pens. We had a long chat as she is a pen collector as well, I think she has a number of DO's now and she let me be the first to try out her latest DO Pen, what a nib! the pen is equisite! A bit out of my league price wise though

Anyway, she is gifting me a pen this week, she can't remember the name but it is Frence and has a lovely nib..I can't wait, in exchange I am giving her some ink that I think she may like! Anyway, I ramble, just random pen thoughts!

Ian,

They will make covers in custom measurements. Very easy to work with.

Just send them an email and they will direct you on how to do it.

Magic, thanks Richard. I was looking and they do their own paper as well, have you experience of that, it looks perfect for fountain pen use!
Hope all is well my friend.

Haven't purchased any of their paper, but may have to try it.

I must admit that I am enjoying all the previously unseen "nice things" that are popping up with wonderful frequency on here, my bank manager and wife may hold a different opinion though. Jim, that cover is exquisite, congratulations, it looks stunning.
