Rare GMT dial?
Hi, I have been offered this 1966 GMT. It has a dial that does not have minute markers. I have not seen this before. Can anyone shed some light on it? Thanks

Seen before
I've seen a post with a watch like this on TURF.
The dial was refinished during service, the minute track was taken of and repainted. http://newturfers.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2608 Jack |

I actually enjoyed reading the post it was interesting to hear how it all turned out. I would have taken the offer of the new dial.

I am going to guess that the dial has been redone. However, can you get some better shots of the dial? Also how about a serial number? Depending on the serial, it might of orginally had a small 24 hour hand. So far, there are a few red flags, proceed with caution.

Seller
Because it's local for you (Retro) you should have it authenticated.
Take it in to the RSC Singapore and let them give an estimate. Seller isn't really knowing a lot about Rolex watches, he's also got a 5508 from 1947 (!!), because he doesn't know the same serials were used in the fifties too. Jack |

does the seller's name start with an I? for someone who claims to not know much about watches, he certainly has a lot of interesting (but mostly overpriced) pieces available FS... proceed carefully. |

Thanks friends for all advice. I am proceeding carefully. It is a 1966 watch with 1.xxx serial number. Here is a better pic:
