So what else would Rolex have hidden up their sleeves?
Right..........we've now got the long-awaited and eagerly anticipated SS Sub-date with all the high-tech bells and whistles.
We've even got a GREEN GOLD dial Sub and a pumped up version of the ever popular Explorer. We've even seen hopefully next year's new Explorer-II watch with an orange hand and a maxi dial which looks absolutely terrific!! So..............what's next? What else can Rolex conjure up to satisfy our ever demanding needs? What unique and new model can Rolex come up with to knock our socks off?? No matter how much we try and stretch our over-active imaginations, I'm sure most of us would be hard pressed to come up with any answers to the above questions!! I wonder if Rolex read this, they could come up with answers themselves!! Cheers - JJ

For next Basel I can see the following things to be rolled out:
1) 50th Anniversary Daytona with something green in it -- either the sub dials, the main dial, the hands, the pushers, or a combination of those 2) Updated Explorer II -- with orange 24th hour hand of course :) 3) GMT IIC Pepsi/Coke -- if Rolex can sort out the ceramic magic 4) Maybe an updated 14060M -- highly unlikely IMHO, but who knows 5) The usual updates to the YM I -- spread to 3 years like the GMT and Sub, so only AG models updated in 2011, and so it would last until 2013 since the whole range is up-to-date |

I know there are other forum-type groups where the companies have people who do lurk to see what is said about the brand....one could hope that would be the case with Rolex?

I would love to see:
an overhaul or changed face of daytona and brushed finish for bracelet removal of "rolexrolexrolex" engraving and leaving only ser. no. a comeback of a manual wind sports watch also perhaps a complete new model perhaps a "Sportsmaster" OK, OK, enough dreaming but thanks JJ for the chance to think out loud.

Well JJ i would like to see a new Pepsi GMT, but if not, the Explorer with the orange 24 hour hand looks interesting. I know Basel is the official launch site of new Rolex watches but, have they ever brought a new watch out later than that, say September ? As i was wondering if they might have delayed the new Explorer II for later in the year. Just a thought.

The weight of the watch stamped on case and perhaps a sell by date after being in the AD for say 6 weeks. Then after 6 weeks they will self destruct so everyone would get the latest case date stamped watch. And bring back the holograms as I miss the thousands of posts, on a bit of sticky back plastic.

You know what JJ, I'd love to see something COMPLETELY different. Not a remodel/overhaul/upgrade, just something really new. Wasn't quite what you asked for but that's what I want.
As far as existing models go and what changes I think will happen, I think that the GMTIIC has a few things in line over the next couple of years like a pepsi bezel and a red 24hr hand. I don't know about the Daytona because they are in such short supply that I just can't see them changing anything when they don't need to. |

I know it's not likely, but if they're really hard up for ideas, they could start releasing some interchangeable strap options. (Maybe the new tudor monte carlo is a sign??)

A no date sub with the following features:
1. Maxi case w/lug holes 2. Matte black dial 3. Slightly domed crystal (anti-glare both sides) 4. Updated glide lock bracelet 5. "Submariner" in red in limited quantities! I'd buy that in a second! |

O.K. Moon watch is taken by Omega. Mars is still available! They (Rolex) still have some time now to do the research, design and test of an interstellar watch for Mars!

The updated 2010 Sub is great........BUT,they should take a leaf out of the new Tudor Heritage's popularity.
The next Sub milestone should launch a limited edition, "Evolution Sub"....maybe in 2013.(60 years) But unlike the Tudor Heritage,it should not mainly focus on the past ..... .......It should embrace the past, reflect the present and give a significant hint at the future(maybe silicone mvts)for Rolex as a Brand and Sub in particular. |

I would like to see Rolex make something in a 44 mm watch running a 3135 that looks like an Omega Railmaster with a larger, flatter, triple lock crown for water resistance, and with a date, but no magnifier.
On an alligator strap. Just the opposite of Rolex purists, I have long been waiting for Rolex to make a larger dial. I bought the Deepsea, but they didn't do it there. They just made the dial the same size and put in a rehaut, and a large case. Same with the 41 mm DJ II. Large for the model, but not any larger of a dial than on the 40 mm models. Time for one large, clear watch for those of us who still buy Omega, Breitling, and Panerai. |

I'd like to see a higher complication, like a moonphase.

Lots of people missing Pepsi and coke. If Rolex is following these threads , I believe it won't be long before the dollar signs start ringing.

Its not the dollar signs thats the problem. ROLEX is having trouble with the two colored ceramic inserts. My take is they may have to go to a two piece insert in order to bring back these popular inserts. Or it may never happen...

I'm not sure if these days are over, But I'd like to see a company go to Rolex and give them a project like Pan-am did with the GMT, I think that is how you get cool watches with cool history
