Safety deposit boxes? sleeping beauties..
I have decided to put my collection of 9 watches in a safety deposit box at my local bank.
I was wondering how fellow members store their watches in them? Seeing that they are too small for the Rolex watch boxes, what type of cushions or other storage system do you use? I guess I could just wrap them up in soft microfibers......?? thanks, pete

Invest in a Quality Vault/Safe, keep at Home. Time back and forth to bank/safety deposit area =hassle.

I'm guessing (hoping?) that you mean just the ones you're not wearing right Pete mate??
Pleeeeease don't let your beautiful watches become 'safe queens!'

I bought several large Oakley watch cases. They're great for storage and fit nicely in my safety deposit box.

If you pay 3,000.00 USD for a good safe it will save you big $$ in the long run.
Do not buy some cheap gun safe that the fire and burglary rating is crap either. You need something that will hold up against a fire for more than an hour with high tempatures, when we had a firestorm in San Diego it destroyed many safes that were not rated for more than 30 minutes. Also make sure you have the safe on a outside wall, and get one that will stand up against a attack against the safe, not some POS type of Sentry safe. Pay for renal, pay for gas, having to wait when the bank is open, having to wait to get to the safe deposit box. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...10#post1613410 Check this tread out for more information. |

Second is a burglary rating we use in the US is TL-30 or TL-15. Both of them are very good for a rating. Your country may rate them diffenent. PM me with some makes and I will help you determine what you have. In the US we have a AMSEC AMVAULT. That is what you can use as an example for a safe with your needs. Remember you are going to protect valuable watches and the safe needs to reflect it. If you were going to protect papers then you would not need so much protection. walz@safetrends.com |

I bought an Amsec and its like 900lbs. fire and burg cost me 1400 delivered. Works like a charm. I would like to swap out the digital keypad because it does eat batteries. |

ESL-10 when they have a short will eat them right up. Change to a LaGard and your problems will be solved.

I also use safe deposit box. (something about the big vault and piece of mind) Also use Hotel shoe shine Pockets and Rolex Service boxes with a good rubber band work very well if needed, However I use a large safe deposit box and put watches in original boxes when I have them. I do go into the vault to wind and swap different wearers at least once every 3 months. Good Luck

Fire safe
In a fire safe - need a tow truck to break it free from its location. On the plus side - I get to choose any watch I want on Sundays

Was wondering, if a safe is big and conspicuous and an armed robber breaks in while you are inside the house, you think he'll not command you to open it?
I think you should have 2 safes, a big one for documents and less expensive jewelries and maybe some cash (some burglars leaves after getting cash) and one small hidden safe for the more valuable items. Is there a small highly fireproof, high burglar-proof rating, out of sight safe you can install inside the house? |

hey guys,
new to the forum, and wanted to chime in on this. do any of you know for sure that safety deposit box at a bank is a good solution? I have read that banks are not liable for the loss of goods in the box. and I have called my local bank, and they confirmed this. meaning that if the bank gets robbed, or if we have some crooked internal employees that steal the goods, we are out of luck. can anyone comment on this further? Thank you. |

I put each watch into a sock. So it looks like I have a safe deposit box full of sock. Very cheap too. 6 pair for like $3.50 at walmart.

Fire safe will not do the job, needs a burglary rating of TL-30 or TL-15. Fire safe is just that a fire safe and nothing else. Questions: http://www.safetrends.com |
