Newbie

I am new to this forum but want to get started. I am starting to get more serious about purchasing one of these fine timepieces. I still have many questions as to D, F, and so forth serial numbers and models. I would love to have a Yachtmaster Platinum but the best price I have seen is $5,700 and I can't justify that much.

Hope to talk with you all,
Dan

Welcome to TRF.
You can probably start with a more common sport model like Subs, Explorers, GMTs.

Welcome to TRF fairline You know that isn't a bad price for a full size Plat/SS YM. But you can probably find a Sub, SD or GMT for a little less. As a matter of fact, we have an outstanding member here selling his GMT II for a great price now. Here's the link to his thread

Welcome! I agree with Paul (Mailman) that's not a bad price for a YM.

D,F,Z and so one are just prefix letters for the serial number indicating what run the watch was made, the watches are the same.

Welcome aboard.
If you really like the YM then that price is decent.
Just don't settle for something that you don't truly love because it's a little cheaper. You'll regret it.

Welcome to TRF.

There's lots of good advice above so I won't add anything.

Hi Dan,

Welcome to TRF.

Go with your heart. If you've got it set on a YM, then so be it. The price you're being offered is very good....so if you can somehow cough up the extra cash, then it's an excellent buy.

The current running serial series is Z. Prior to Z was D...then going back to F, Y, K....

Good luck - JJ

Thanks so much for all the info. This forum is great. I have decided to make the YM my ultimate goal. I will work my way up to it because if I buy it now I won't have anything to keep looking forward to-and also, its a little out of my price range (around 2K).

I was looking at a submariner on preownedrolex.com and I thought it may be a pretty good deal.

Feel free to check it out and let me know.

Dan
