I'm not quite sure what you're asking, Matt, but I would think you wouldn't need to blot a ballpoint pen.

Do you mean it is leaving a blot of ink when you write with it?
If so, this happens to me on cheaper pens when I press too hard...

A MB ball pen is basically just a nice luxury holder for the refill inside it; so I suppose it's possible to damage the refill inside by pressing too hard?

Ballpoint ink doesn't NEED blotting. If it does, that's some weird freakin' ink you got there.

On the other hand, if it's the pen-point that's dripping out ink, I have to agree with Chris. A Montblanc ballpoint pen is little more than a fancy holder for a cheap pen. It's for this reason I never use ballpoint pens. Because an expensive one writes no better than a cheap one. The only thing you can do is change the ink-cartridge.

Blotting could occur in my 149 when the nib's top side is positioned on the right side, but writes normally upon positioning the nib centered onto the paper! Using a fine paper however, doesn't affect whatever position the nib is!
I am sorry, I didn't notice right away that it's a bp you are having a problem with! That's kind of unusual I would say!

I blot my writing regularly, but that's because I sometimes use fountain pens with old-fashioned, flexible nibs. But I've never heard of a ballpoint pen requiring blotting.

Oh Leo, it's a horrific disease. And horribly contagious!! Kapture, has your ballpoint pen been fraternising, sleeping with or been in close contact with a similarly-afflicted fountain pen recently? If so, it may have caught this most debilitating and fatal of diseases from the infected fountain pen.

I'm sorry. There's nothing that the nibmeisters or pen-repairers can do. Complete disembowelment of the instrument is required to save it, but this can only be safely done if a donar-cartridge can be found. As it stands, there is a six-month wait for such cartridges.

I'll help you arrange the funeral.

I'm speaking of the excess ink that is on the paper when I write from time to time... pressing too hard? Best to describe it as a glob of ink.

That is a symptom of an old refill. Change it and you should be good!
