Finally a member of the club
I'm a long-time lurker but finally decided to register and purchase myself the watch I've always wanted; a 16610 Sub Date.
I absolutely hate wearing jewelry; rings, necklaces, etc.... but for some reason I have an addiction to watches. I have no issues with spending money for quality products, but spending more than 5k on a watch always seemed irresponsible. In an attempt to quell my lust for quality and style without hating myself in the morning, I attempted to find love with other, cheaper time pieces. In the end, I found myself continuing to lust after the Sub and with a collection of watches from other manufacturers. After much research on the net and with most of it from this site, I am now the owner of the watch I should have purchased many years ago. I want to thank Gagan in NY for giving me a great deal and to the other members of this forum for the ridiculous amount of information here. I plan for this Sub to be my daily wearer. Hopefully this is but the first in a small collection of Rolex watches for me. |

Congrats on the purchase of your first Sub, you won't be dissappointed in your choice of a great daily wear watch! I beat the snot out of my first Roly for years before adding to the stable, you'll be surprised how well they hold up.

Thanks for the warm welcome. There is a level of class here that is nonexistent at a few other enthusiast forums I frequent. It's a nice change.
I'll be sure to post photos of my watch collection when I return stateside from my current business trip. I'm already scouting out new watches I want to add to my collection. Now that I've taken the plunge on the first Sub, there doesn't seem to be much holding me back from getting the others I really really want (but likely don't need). The only question is which model do I go after next? Daytona? DJ? GMT? I can't decide. I can tell this site is going to put a dent in my wallet. |

Congratulations! I am new here too and also resemble the "long time lurker" remark! ;)
However, I'm still looking for "the one"..... You've kept the hope alive! :) Best, ~vp |
