Cost to change a dial on SS Daytona (UK)

I am in a bit of a quandry and so wondered if someone can help..... I recently got my SS Daytona that I have been waiting for the last 5 years. When I ordered it I said I didnt mind between the whote or black face. As time has gone by, my preference became for a black dial, as I think the white is more of a dress watch and so I wouldnt wear it as often.

So at the end of February my watch arrived..... with a white dial! As I dont really like the white dial now, I contacted a few of the well known after market dealers to see if they would be interested in buying it, only to discover that they have so many in stock that they are not at all interested.

So I am faced with either keeping it and not wearing it often (which is not what I want) or getting the dial changed to a black one.

Therefore my question is does anyone know how much it would cost to change here in the UK? The AD I got it from said about £100, but another AD said about £500-600 !

Anyone got any views on this?

Thanks..... in the meantime I will just keep wearing my 1984 Air King Date that is probably the most accurate Rolex I ever had and which I still get compliments on for its classic design

I was the other way round. When mine came in it was black and I found the dial/hands very hard to read. I also have a black dial GMT so asked the AD to swap the black for white which was done FOC at point of sale by sending it back to Rolex Bexley.

Out of interest which grey dealers said they had too many SS Daytonas in stock? Thanks.

I've heard it said that you can request a free dial swap from Rolex through a UK dealer within a certain time frame, 30 days or 3 months, I can't remember which.

Ring your AD and put it to them, you never know you might get it done for nothing.

Are Blowers and Watches.co.uk proper ADs,i thought they just sold used or nearly new but were not affiliated to any major brand ? Phone Rolex themselves to see if it can be done.

Sorry, I meant I got it from an official AD, but I called Blowers/Watches etc to see if they would be interested in buying it.

If I can get the dial changed either free or for a nominal charge I will go that route

Quick question - I have a couple of friends who have Daytona's, but the whole strap is brushed steel, as oppossed to having the polished inner piece as mine has. Are these old watches (and so the strap used to be different) or have they been conned and they are fakes (of course they could be fake and they know it but dont want to say lol)?

Look at your watch and you will find out....
