Once and for bloody all...
Hi guys,
I've heard a lot of criticism about my new Planet Ocean. Sure, it has an orange coloured bezel, but after recent comparisons with the fugly looking AP, I'm not sure how many of you are joking and how many of you are truly serious. I'll stick by my guns and say that I truly love and admire the watch. Honestly, guys, the bracelet puts Rolex bracelets to shame in terms of solidness, finish and clasp: but that's another story. Questions: Do you like the PO? Do you hate the PO? Are you neutral toward it? I would appreciate your very honest and sincere votes. Don't hold back any punches. Please vote now. Thanks - JJ

I don't hate it, but orange does absolutely nothing for me, and because I'm partial towards the Sub/SD, the Seamaster-type watches don't really interest me.

Well I like it, wish Helium/valve was flush like SD,must agree with JJ regarding
the bracelet. If the black insert is the same as the orange, you could change and have two different looks for the price of one.

Hey JJ,
When I first saw the PO I liked it. I really liked the hands. But then I found out the dial was matte. I like gloss black dials. But even with that I was still thinking about getting one, for the price. Try to get 30% off list on a Rolex. But the main thing I did not like was the helium release valve. I would never use it. I don't get submersed in a bathyscape. Helium would never get in my watch. At least on the Rolex SD it is flush with the case. But on the Seamaster it just sticks out like a sore thumb. IMHO. But I like simple, that is why I haven't bought a GMT yet. And that is a fuction that I might even use. I think the PO is a good watch, just don't like it enough to choose wearing it over my Sub date. As for the orange. For now, I like it! Very fresh and very fashionable. But then again in the late 80s I thought I would be wearing a certain Fluorescent pink shirt for many years to come. Only time will tell if the orange color is a fad. |

JJ,
Perhaps a 4th choice to vote."Warming to it." I find I am coming around to it and I actually like the orange bezel. The size is still not my cuppa but I can honestly say I like the overall appearance and would be happy enough to own one. I am going to regret this but I have been trying to suss out the bezel.Does it have crown guards?(Here comes the hard bit ) Could you please post a picture of the crown and guards. Aaron |

JJ.. we love to rib you about the pumpkin, but i really love this watch.. it is a refreshing chnage from the countless other clone divers available.. and the dial is very reminiscant of older omega seamasters .. i only wish the bezel was all orange and not silver / orange.
i dont think that orange is just a fad colour.. look at the doxa 300T that is at leats 30 years old and it had an orange dial! The only other critism i would have is the he release valve spoils the symmetry of the watch.. but i suppose that it is what is associated with SM these days..like the cyclops and rolex. mamas |

I voted neutral. It depends what kind of mood I'm in wether I like it or not. I personally would prefer it with the black bezel and I wish it came in 40mm. Now only if I knew the price.

JJ, I give you a hard time about the Pumpkin, but I couldn't vote to hate it. I voted neutral. I don't really like it, but mostly because of the orange color. If it had a nice black bezel, I would probably like it.

I love it 100%. A black bezel would make it yet another Rolex clone (wannabe). But I also love to bug JJ about that orange abomination

JJ,
As I said in the other PO discussion post, I love it! I just can't HAVE it. (Story of my life. Too many wants, too little green.) If I had the funds, you would have a partner in crime! Gun |

You know I rarely venture out >>>
JJ, you know I rarely venture out of the Rolex forum, but I'm here to support your Planet Ocean purchase, I think the PO is a stunning watch. The orange version isn't for me, but I think it's a good looking watch anyways.
Ignore the philistines, that's a beauty, stick with it!

JJ, I want you to get down on your knees and thank me. Why? For showing admirable restraint in not deleting this entire thread. Not only do I see an 8 x 10 glossy of the Pumpkin in the first post, but then I come all the way down to the last posting and what do I see - 2 more 8 x 10 glossies of the same friggin' thing.
AAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH I can't stand this anymore. You are driving me crazy with those pictures. I don't know how much longer I can take this. SSSSCCCRRRRRREEEEEAAAAAAAAMMMMMMM!!!!

Wow
Ed,
My freind, you simply must try some decaf! I am concerned about your blood pressure and overall health. That beautiful watch shouldn't evoke such a dramatic response. (No matter how many thousand of times it has been posted.) (From every possible angle!) As we well know, our good freind JJ is fighting OCD daily. His only compulsion is to repeatedly post pics of the orange beast. We should be thankful that this his only problem. They always say,"You should never mess with the insane." Sooner or later they snap! Embrace his sickness. And rest assured he'll be on to a new watch in a few months! Take two of these and call me in the morning! Gun |
