Interesting Realization - IF MONEY WAS NO OBJECT.
Hello,
I am just a working guy - who has to work for his toys and stuff. No big daddy to pay for all, no older lady to pick up the tab. Anyhow - I have been placed in a very interesting situation. I own a lovely white gold Patek Philippe Calatrava - you guys are probably sick of my pictures. A good friend of mine is going through a nasty divorce. She is a "gold digger" and my friend is trying to hid assets. He has given me a few Rolexes to hold for him. A gold Submariner serti Dial, Steel 16610 Submariner Date, a few DateJust pieces, some vintage rolex piece - super oyster TT, solid gold Rolex date ref 1503... to name but a few. He has told me I can wear an watch of his - that I like. So what do I yearn to wear? ROLEX EXPLORER 1 - 14270 with holes case. Probably the most un-loved sports Rolex model at the moment. I just adore it. Classic simplicity, beautiful 3 6 9 dial. Simple non flip lock bracelet. It is just a honey. My friend calls it an overpriced Air-King! But I love her. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

first of all, it's an Explorer not Air-King! your friend really needs some "ROLEX talk" and you should be able to talk through him well :p
second, wear it! |

Same - I love the Explorer, too many watches ... too little time. No wait there's enough time, it's too many watches ... too little money, that's it.

I don't know what country much less state in which these events are occurring, but helping to hide assets, presumedly from a court, sounds like a dangerous business. Please be careful my friend.

Great choice!! I'm afraid the new non-lume number dial on the new Explorer makes the "over-priced Air King" comment even more appropriate....but, you do get a lot more heritage with the Explorer...
If that soon to be ex-wife doesn't even realize her husband just hid a bunch of expensive watches from the estate then I guess that couple was doomed to fail! LOL.... |

Easier to change strap/ bracelet options and it's a historical attribute from the 'tool" watch age.
