Please Recommend A Comfortable Rollerball . . .
Hi All,
Would you please recommend a comfortable rollerball? By comfortable I mean it needs to have a relatively large barrel while simultaneously being lightweight. I have been treated by a physical therapist for trigger finger and tendonitis due to all the writing I've done throughout the years. (I already own the MB Classique RB and the Mozart line didn't include a RB model.) Thank you very much. Faith ![]()

I don't have much experience of roller balls Faith but I do have a lamy safari fountain pen that one can also get in rollerball. I find that one light weight, very comfortable to use and also slightly wider in girth than most roller balls out there.
Lamy are low cost but not low performance. You can get them in some nice colours as well! http://www.lamyusa.com/safari1.html |

I find the larger barrel pens more comfortable. For a nice pen I use the Montblanc in the Le Grand size. For inexpensive pens I leave around and don't mind loosing, Dr. Grip.

Trigger finger can be painful and frustrating.
Hope you'll recover soon. How about Pelikan? Their souveran series do have RB available. I'm sure one of them will be just the right size for you. If my memory is correct you are big fan of Pelikan. ![]()

Mine's a bit blingy Faith, but it sounds like it might fit your requirements. The boheme doue from MB. It's a bit bigger than the classique (diameter), but doesn't have the heft (probably due to just having the R refill in it).
Anyway, there is a tiny pix in my sig, I'll try to post a bigger one later. Good luck with your quest! ![]()

Take a look at the MB Generation RB..
It's a resin body with reasonable size, neither bulky or too skinny. With the cap removed the weight is very light with most of it at the writing end so there isn't a lot of effort to keep it in position.. if you put the cap on the back end, it remains well balanced in the hand. I use one with a fine-line refill... ![]()

If you can find a good price on the MB 100th historical roller ball pen, it's very classy.
A capture from the dealer where I bought mine. |

Faith, how about a Montblanc Starwalker Rollerball. I don't have the rollerball, but my Starwalker Ballpoint has a nice grip and is a joy to write with.

I appreciate everyone's suggestions and intend to check them out. If I didn't have a hand problem, I could purchase a pen purely on aesthetics or the reputation of the brand. I will head to some pen shops and attempt to write with the different recommended pens to see how they feel. Thank you so much. I will let you know what I ultimately decide.

Too many pens, too little time. It will probably be difficult making a choice as I'm sure more than one pen will fit the bill.

In my line of work I need a rollerball as well. Can anyone suggest a good place to purchase one online? I'd like to look for one also. I like the ones shown above!

You are so fortunate to live in the States as you have several online sellers that are wonderful. Firstly I really recommend PM'ing Faith as she has a wonderful seller that I found for her but cannot remember the name of ![]() Other than that you have several that are great as well. Swisher http://store.nexternal.com/shared/St...unt2=885902047 Fountain pen hospital http://www.fountainpenhospital.com/ Bertrams http://www.bertramsinkwell.com/ And world lux http://www.worldlux.com/cgi-bin/navi...&method=header But I really encourage you to check out the one Faith used for her Mozart as I have not seen lower prices and the service according to Faith is top notch! |

Just one other thought as well Paul.
I think I am right in remembering you are a police officer? Are you going to use the pen on Patrol? If so then I recommend Lamy as a great tough pen that can handle the tough working enviroments you are in. Here is a link to their rollerball page. http://www.lamyusa.com/rollerballs.html They write wonderfully as well ![]() |

Paul, as well as the great selections already recommended, you may also want to look at a Surefire pen, built and engineered to last, the cap is very handy as it has been designed to break windscreens in an emergency.
I did say that last bit with tongue firmly in cheek. ![]() ![]() No, honest, I did. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I agree Ian, as with their torches, superbly put together, expensive but oh so tactile, American engineering at its best.

If the Surefire pen is half as good as their flashlights, they must be outstanding. I had no idea the company made pens.

Faith,
I would recommend the Montblanc Bohme RB. Lots of choices and a very nice roller ball.
