Please Recommend A Comfortable Rollerball . . .

Hi All,

Would you please recommend a comfortable rollerball? By comfortable I mean it needs to have a relatively large barrel while simultaneously being lightweight. I have been treated by a physical therapist for trigger finger and tendonitis due to all the writing I've done throughout the years. (I already own the MB Classique RB and the Mozart line didn't include a RB model.) Thank you very much. Faith

I don't have much experience of roller balls Faith but I do have a lamy safari fountain pen that one can also get in rollerball. I find that one light weight, very comfortable to use and also slightly wider in girth than most roller balls out there.
Lamy are low cost but not low performance. You can get them in some nice colours as well!

I find the larger barrel pens more comfortable. For a nice pen I use the Montblanc in the Le Grand size. For inexpensive pens I leave around and don't mind loosing, Dr. Grip.

How about Pelikan?
Their souveran series do have RB available.
I'm sure one of them will be just the right size for you.
If my memory is correct you are big fan of Pelikan.

Mine's a bit blingy Faith, but it sounds like it might fit your requirements. The boheme doue from MB. It's a bit bigger than the classique (diameter), but doesn't have the heft (probably due to just having the R refill in it).

Anyway, there is a tiny pix in my sig, I'll try to post a bigger one later.

Take a look at the MB Generation RB..

It's a resin body with reasonable size, neither bulky or too skinny. With the cap removed the weight is very light with most of it at the writing end so there isn't a lot of effort to keep it in position.. if you put the cap on the back end, it remains well balanced in the hand.

I use one with a fine-line refill...

Faith, as another choice Waterman make some really comfortable roller balls so check them out as well. I have one I bought about ten years ago and it has never failed me!!!

Faith, how about a Montblanc Starwalker Rollerball. I don't have the rollerball, but my Starwalker Ballpoint has a nice grip and is a joy to write with.

I would suggest the MB Boheme resin line - its my favorite for light an larger barrel and comes in a variety of combination's:

I appreciate everyone's suggestions and intend to check them out. If I didn't have a hand problem, I could purchase a pen purely on aesthetics or the reputation of the brand. I will head to some pen shops and attempt to write with the different recommended pens to see how they feel. Thank you so much. I will let you know what I ultimately decide. Faith

Too many pens, too little time. It will probably be difficult making a choice as I'm sure more than one pen will fit the bill.

You are so fortunate to live in the States as you have several online sellers that are wonderful.
Firstly I really recommend PM'ing Faith as she has a wonderful seller that I found for her but cannot remember the name of He has some incredible deals, the best I have seen online for Mont Blanc and excellent service!

I think I am right in remembering you are a police officer? Are you going to use the pen on Patrol? If so then I recommend Lamy as a great tough pen that can handle the tough working enviroments you are in.

No joke! That would be perfect for me. I do a good bit of writing in all weather conditions, and have broken a few windows in my day. That pen looks like a winner. I'm going shopping! Thanks guys!
