16610 / 3135 Precision After 14 Years of Hard Work !

Well I would like to share this information with all TRF members.. I've been using my 1996 [W] Serial 16610 Sub Date for almost 14 Years on a daily basis and used it for diving trips 4-5 times/Year.. I sent it only once for RSC on Jan.2010 for maintenance and O-rings change.. But let me also tell you that I am very careful not to drop it,, avoiding knocks.. Lubricating the stem O-ring with Nyogel and I regularly clean it with WD and soap..

Last week I decided to home test the movement precision/performance ? So after reading many helpful threads on TRF,, I downloaded software from the world time server and used NIST and USNO as a reference + used a G-SHOCK CASIO for a one week test, the result was :

[+48 HRS. POWER RESERVE]
[+1 sec / 24 hrs. ACCURACY]

My comment is: this [3135] movement is really robust, durable and accurate and I really didn't believe it when I found out how much it is that accurate after 14 Years of a non stop working !

All my respect to the ROLEX SWISS engineers how invented it !

And all this accuracy without the aid of a parachrom hairspring, and since its introduction in 1988/9.The Cal 3135 has a well proved track record same could be said for all the Rolex movements in the last 4 decades.Enjoy your watch and the superb accuracy in good health for another 14 plus years.

I really like to hear stories about how well a mechanical watch has maintained it's accuracy after so many years. Thanks for sharing and I hope you enjoy many more trouble-free years with your 16610.
