Humble Beginning

I have been a lurker for a while trying to absorb as much of the vast knowledge here as possible. I finally took the plunge with a MB rollerball and ballpoint as well as a Moleskine journal.
I've never been one to write my thoughts down and as some of you will notice from my posts on the watch forums my grammer and spelling are terrible.
I have to say though that writing my thoughts and experiences down has been an incredibly cathartic experience that really frees my mind and has become really very enjoyable.
Just wanted to say thanks.

That's great, Richard. You're doing it for the right reasons. Spelling and grammar really are irrelevant when it comes to journaling. As long as you are enjoying it, that's all that matters.

What a way to start Richard, well done

There really is nothing better than being able to write ones thoughts and feelings on to paper.

I have been journaling now for around 15 years and have found that it has helped me in so many ways work through issues in my life, acknowledge things that I have done when there has been no one else around to do that for me and helped calm me and center me in times of trouble or anxiety.

Over the years you will find your journal becomes a valued friend and confidant.
A place you can visit and know you will be heard and seen.

If you have never done so you might want to seek out the journal entries of famous folks, people who have made a valuable contribution to society or culture. It really is so interesting to see how those who we think to be so self assured or confident often have the same gremlins and thoughts as us!

An entry from my Favorite journal writer!

..Thoreau's Journal: 20-Apr-1841

Great thoughts hallow any labor. To-day I earned seventy-five cents heaving manure out of a pen, and made a good bargain of it. If the ditcher muses the while how he may live uprightly, the ditching spade and turf knife may be engraved on the coat-of-arms of his posterity.

Richard,

Congratulations on your new purchases! Not only attractive, but they should hold you in very good stead throughout the coming years. And you're right, committing thoughts and feelings to paper can be very freeing. Thanks for your post. Faith
