Maxi-Dial second hands on LV vs Yachtmaster

I just received my LV, while sitting here oogling and being happy, I noticed the second hand appears different than my Yachtmaster. First off, they both are considered the maxi-dial and should be the same correct? It appears as though the illumination part on the LV is smaller.....is this an illusion caused by the red outline?

Well, no..... not really..

They are different watches with different functions.. The YM is designed to be able to assist in yachting... the bezel is different and turns both ways, and the seconds hand is red and prominent because when you want to cross the starting line with your yacht, the seconds hand becomes the most important hand on the dial...

Well, yea I realize they have different purposes, but I thought the term maxi-dial meant larger markers, hour/min/sec hands....with that being said, shouldn't the second hand be the same size on all "maxi-dials"? Thats what I can't seem to tell, it may be the same just and illusion

From your pics, it sure looks like the YM second hand has a bigger lume. It would be interesting if we could add a third maxi dial for comparison, like a II-C.

Nope...all Maxi Dials are NOT created equal. Another example is: The GMT IIC's Maxi dial has a wider neck on the Mercedes hour hand, whereas the Sub LV has pretty much the regular hour hand.
