My new Pilot Prerea

I was searching around on fountain pen network and found that a lot of people had pretty good things to say about the Pilot Prerea. The Prerea comes in quite a few colors. Black, Yellow, Slate Gray, Royal Blue, Lime Green, Ivory, Pink and Light Blue.
The cap is a slip on style and snaps on with a smooth positive click.

I chose the Medium nib but being from Japan it writes on the fine side. I can imagine the fine nib would be very sharp.

The closed length is: 4.72 inches (120mm)
The posted length is: 5.25 inches (136mm)
The diameter is: 0.51 inches (13mm)
The weight is: 0.63 ounces (18g)

The nib is nice and smooth with no skipping or scratching. I am using Waterman Florida Blue ink. (I love this ink!)

The Prerea is trimmed out in chromed steel with a steel nib.

It takes Pilot cartridges and it also comes with a aerometric converter.

The short length makes for a comfortable fit in a shirt pocket. It is not too short to write with unposted but I do prefer to post the cap for a better feel. It is lightweight but well balanced. Overall it is a very nice pen for a reasonable price. I found this one through Stationery Art a online store in Hong Kong reasonable shipping and quick service.

The main reason I chose this one was for the sharp yellow color with silver trim. I was happy to find it is also a great writer. A good combination of quality and value.

Phillip, that’s a nice score.
Prerea is an excellent value
They come in 9 different flavors - I like the yellow.

Great pick up! The writing looks to be as fine as my fine nib'd Pelikan.

Thanks for the review! I'm checking out the other colours. I think I will add one soon, it's pretty inexpensive. Cheers,

Thanks Noonan. It probably is comparable to a fine. I think most Japanese nibs run on the fine side.

Thanks Dave. I am enjoying it very much. One day I am going to buy a real camera but I have these other hobbies that have taken all of my camera savings.

Thanks again Philip, I'm happy to say I am a proud owner of the little Prera

Mine's light blue medium nib. Yes, nib is on the fine side, like a Pelikan F. It's smooth and doesn't skip when it starts which makes it better than my x3 priced Waterman Charleston!

Balance is good with cap posted (usually I don't post).

The small size would fit perfectly for carrying with you at all times. I hope it doesn't leak! Cheers,

Sharp looking pen Phillip I might just have to pick one up myself.

Gelshocker. Happy to hear you picked up your Prera. They are great pens. I have been using the converter and not had any leaks or any other problems. Congrats. How about some photos?
