After a year and a little change of being quite happy with my Invicta Pro Diver, tragedy hath struck- it died on me last week. It's proven to not be a battery or anything simple. My jeweler/watchmaker has it now to evaluate it, but I'm betting on it being a dead movement.

It's just out of warranty, and Invicta is being wholly unresponsive. If it's a movement, replacement would cost me about $100 by the time I'm done. With that said, I'm looking at a replacement. This time, I'm going automatic.

I love the look of the Orient Makos, old and new, and with a coupon code I found, I can snag either for under $125. $125 shipped for the 2010 Mako, $95 for the classic.

What are the pros and cons of the 2? I see the different looks, but how does the 2010 Mako justify the price difference?

Mate I genuinely mean no disrespect but for a difference of $30 (GBP£20-ish?) wouldn't you be better off just picking the one you like best?!?

I wish! There isn't a good watch shop here. The solo Rolex AD is run by a group of morons, same with Omega. Around here, a Timex is as good as it gets for most people.

vote for the original mako with 12, 6, 9 numerals... i find it more sleek...

Mako II has nice updated design however it's quite big.
If you got the wrist go for Mako II otherwise stay with Mako (and get blue).
The only con of Mako is that the bezel is hard to turn due to the small grip area and
fact that the OD of the bezel is slightly smaller compared to the case.

I believe 50% off promo has expired but I'm sure they'll do an another promo soon.

The code I have hasn't expired.

If it does, looking at Orient on Youtube usually has coupon codes in the videos.

Think I'll go with the Blue Mako if my Invicta is truly DOA. Their watch guy was supposed to look yesterday, but who knows how much backlog the guy has.

Well, I just got the call. Dead movement, their cost is $78 to fix it.

Invicta's cost- $97, not including shipping to get it there!

That Mako's looking pretty good...

after reading up on both makos, i'm now leaning towards the newer mako.. in almost all reviews, the newer mako is built better than the older mako... hmmmm...

Where did you see that? Everything I have seen (except one outlier) says that the original Mako is basically a tank.

not dissing any mako, its just that, in my opinion, the Mako II is built "better" than the original Mako -- "improving" on the Mako I

got my Hogrider (New Mako) and it just feels awesome! sucky lume though but very much satisfied!
