Don't Give Up The Ship!

As promised, here is the "new" Sea Dweller.

I hand carved the eagle when I was in the metal neck brace for a year and a half and it hangs proudly in my house today. The bell and clock were from the boat. I also carved the half hull for my daughter, as she is named for the boat.

The message is as true today as it was 200 years ago.

The carvings are excellent and the memories they invoke will stay with you forever. Great job.

Actually it is a copy of a John Haley Bellamy antique from the mid 1800's

Type in Bellamy in the search box.

I've personally handled all of these on this page, it's the company I used to run before I went on to coins by myself. Lot 118 is a typo, it sold for $125,000.
Really????

My mom has the original that I copied from...wow!

I would say it is not a copy, it is a true work of art that has been inspired by John Haley Bellamy. You really are a craftsman and you did it in a neck support which was a handicapp for you. You should be proud of that it is really excellent!

Nice carving Nat. Congratulations on the Sea Dweller. It is very appropriate for someone who loves the sea.

Fantastic! Looks like the SD has found a nice home.

I'm always impressed by wood carvings. Especially since I couldn't even carve a cube out of a rectangular piece of wood. Takes so much care and attention to detail.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

Working on that while trapped in the house for months was true therapy - and the motto was a constant reminder that the entire episode was temporary - or would be if I had any say in the matter!!!
