For Those of Us With Professional Licenses ...

Is it just me, or does CE suck?!? Today was day filled with CE. I left the house at 6:45 this morning and just walked into the house five minutes ago. A very, very long, very, very boring day.

On the upside ... my final CE requirement is behind me, I am good for another two years, and I am sitting here posting on TRF!!!

Every day I try to learn something new. No matter what it is I want to keep learning, it helps the mind.

My wife usually doesn't complain about her CEs, for the most part! As an RDH she has two years to get them and it usually involves an online course here and there or a conference.

Yeah. My wife doesn't complain much either, seeing as how we travel, which is paid for by the practice, and are entertained constantly by drug reps as she fulfills her CE requirements. I get to drive an hour and sit in a classroom listening to the S.O.S.

However, as a general rule, I agree with David ... never stop learning!

It looks like a lot of CE, regardless of your profession, is going the route of online. I think I'm going to try it out, too.

I'm only allowed 3 CE's online per year. The rest I have to actually go to classes. I don't mind, because I make a vacation out of it, and write it off on my tax return!

You mean the abbreviation for Continuing Education or everyone commenting about them?

I wish I could make a vacation out of mine. That's what we do with the wife's. Her CE is how we get to go to San Francisco every other year. We love that city. This year we have been to Charleston, SC (we have family there and visit about once a month, but it is still one of your favorite places), and she was in New York city just a few weekends ago and Miami a few weeks before that. I couldn't make Miami or New York this time due to scheduling conflicts.

I think we have another trip coming up, but I'm not sure where.

No. Here in the states, professional licenses have to be renewed occasionally, depending on the laws of the state. One requirement for renewal of your license is to attend a certain number of class hours, known as continuing education. The number of hours varies depending on the license.

It helps you to make money, does it not?

I just sat through a sermon, I mean lecture, concerning the ISO 14001 standards that Siemens needs ALL their vendors to be mindful of.

If it wasn't for the mini-GTG with DucatiDoc, I would have been a no show. (I sorta have a "lock" on their biz as I'm their only loxmyth, as far as I know. )

BTGOG (by the grace of God), I got a call from a customer just before the class got started, only 20 minutes away from our mini-GTG and the job exceeded my self-imposed $$$ quota for the day. PTL.

Glad you made it through it alive, Mike!

Here they don't care if you sleep thru the class, only that you pay the fee.

Had a seminar in DC last week. This year I thought it was quite interesting and networked quite a bit too. Most seminars are boring but I have been more selective in the topic. I view it as the company is paying me to learn. So it is not so bad.

My boss always balks about paying the fees.
