Any thoughts on a Tag Formula 1?
The red face has something about it

Its a sharp fun watch... If my memory serves me correct I had a Formula 1 many years ago with the rubber strap in that time they made it in wild colors,But I had a standard black/red dial... I was so young I had to get the smaller size... It was my first "real" watch and I loved it!

Sorry guys. I don't like this one at all. It just looks fugly and cheap with all that plastic. Just MHO opinione though
I think, if you want a Tag... go for the classic Carrera Chrono. Great looking watch with some history to it.

Yes agree that Carrera is a great looking chronograph.

yeah! yeah! yeah! yeah!
...sorry... It's a bit 'blingier' than a speedy pro even though they look similar. Must admit thought, omega bracelet is a hundred times better.

Personally I also think the Tag F1 is a bit cheap looking and plastic, especially the bezel.
The Blue dial/blue bezel 2000 is a nice watch if you want a quartz Tag The Carrera is a classic, but I prefer this Heuer Classic. Have one of these if you want a Heuer you wont be disappointed. |

TAG watches remind me of featherweight boxing and midget wrestling. It's like who is the strongest wimp. Save for a Rolex!

I think the prices at present are around $3000-4000 for an original 3 register manual wind model in this condition.

What do you think of the 'special edition' mcqueen model that came complete with stripes? I must admit I don't like it as much at all...

I think that's nicer than the F1... albeit in a totally different price range. I quite like the ladies version of the Monaco too - I think Uma was doing the sales promo for that piece. Nice one, really liked it.

I don't mind the F1, but i think the price point is all wrong for it.
Reminds of a swatch. Nothing wrong with that, but for $800 , I think they missed the mark

I bought a Tag/Heuer Professional 1000 in 1990. I paid about $400. In 1985 I had bought a BNIB Rolex Sub date from an AD for $1000. This year I was in a T/H AD and requested that they service my Tag. I was told that they could change the battery, but they no longer had access to seals, O-rings, tubes, etc. and could not therefore actually service the watch beyond what any battery replacement shop could do. I called T/H in NY and was advised that since T/H didn't make the quartz movement in house, they no longer had access to parts because the original manufacturer no longer makes them. Their advice was to "buy a new Tag" or hunt around and find some local watchmaker that could find some old, dried out seal, and maybe service the watch. When I suggested that I didn't have great admiration for their long term customer service philosophy, the nice young lady said that most people wouldn't want to spend the money to have such an inexpensive watch serviced, because it wasn't worth it. I advised that maybe Tags theory is why their 16 year old watch is worth 0, but my 22 year old Rolex is worth a lot more than I paid for it.
I would never buy one again. For the money you'd spend on a Tag I would buy a Seiko or Citizen. That having been said, my Tag has worked flawlessly for 16 years with only a few battery changes. |

I agree on the bling Otis. If I had to choose between the Speedy Pro and the Carrera, it would be a no brainer for me. Speedy wins
