Scotch Enthusiasts

There are plenty of forums for hardcore wine and scotch snobs (or aficionados as they like to be called), so I thought I would start a relaxed thread here for Rolex enthusiasts who also happen to be scotch enthusiasts.
Here's my tip for the day, Wild Scotsman 15 year old Vatted Malt Whisky is currently available from several sources at a closeout price, including the PA liquor board! It's a blend of 10 single malts that average 18 years old. No chill filtering and no added caramel or other coloring. A real craft whisky bottled at a lovely 46%. It also received an incredible 95/100 from Jim Murray's Whisky Bible. That's a fantastic of rating for an $80 scotch, and unbelievable of for the closeout $50 price tag. I picked up a few bottles.

Feel free to post your favorites, deals, tasting notes, etc.

Laphroaig and Lagavulin are my two favorites by far. I like heavy smoke and the Isle of Islay delivers every time for me.

While we're here, what is the deal with Woodward ? I drink only vodka-based drinks, so I'm clueless. I took my best buddy out for lunch at Xmas time, he's pounding back Woodward at $11.00/shot. I could get Unicorn milk cheaper than that !

I'm fond of anything Macallan, but I enjoy all types of single malts.

Not a tour per se, but I did go to Scotland when I was 23 and could kick myself for not being as into scotch at the time

Glenfiddich and Chivas for me too, but one of my friends gave me this Johnnie Walker. Good for scotch and water 'attitude adjustment' while watching the sun go down.

No scotch please ....

I prefer Irish Whiskey.

Much smoother & better for you!

Was in Midleton, IR last week & sampled some Jameson ... even brought back a bottle of Midleton - waiting for my cousin to open it!!!

I warned him how it needs to be sampled quickly - but he claims that once the bottles get opened, too much mysterious evaporation takes place?!?!?!?!

I love Irish whiskey too, but it's hard to find an Irish single malt.

Whisk(e)y is my other vice.

I collect both American whiskeys and Single Malts

A few from the collection

Did someone say Macallan?

Went a few years ago to Glenkinchie. My only caveat:

Do not go on a distillery tour hung over.
