Broken? GMT Master II

Hi everyone,

The other day I was changing the date/time on my GMT Master II which I hadnt worn in quite awhile.
The date was off almost 10 days.
For some reason, I was an idiot and tried changing it with the crown pulled out to the second notch (position 3)... instead of the first notch.
After changing it several days, the crown started to get harder to turn and eventually started "slipping"?.
I waited 12 hours before touching it again and it slips after changing it ahead 30 minutes.
Also. I can make the hour hand go clockwise using the first notch but I can't go counterclockwise or the crown just slips.
Is my watch broken? or will it fix itself if i leave it alone for several days until it unwinds completely?

Thanks

So at first you didn't try changing the date by turning the Mercedes hour hand only?

I suggest you do as you suggest yourself - i.e. see what happens following a complete unwind. And if you still notice the slipping maybe it's time for an overhaul.

I wouldn't touch it. The 3185 movement should allow your hour hand to go forward an back. I was also unaware that you could change dates in position 3.

I suggest you take it to an RSC.

Good luck.

I think what the OP is saying is that at first he started changing the date by turning the red hand (and minute hand) - which requires a lot of extra turns compared to changing it by turning the jump hour hand 24 positions.
