do you have an aftermarket bracelet on your rolex
just curious to see on this board who has an aftermarket bracelet on their rolex?
my '95 sub bracelet is starting to wear, so i thought id put an aftermarket bracelet which has solid middle links but attach it to the original clasp, and keep the original tucked away. anyone else do this, or am i a loony? |

I suppose so. Its like adding diamonds onto a Rolex dial to make it a modified item IMO....
the op isnt trying to pass the whole thing as a genuine bracelet... |

There are plenty of aftermarket bracelets on Rolex Watches out there......... If not, they wouldn't be sold, but many just won't admit it........
Every NATO is an aftermarket........ and there are plenty of those.. All the Hirsch leather and rubber diver straps are aftermarket............. ........... They are everywhere........... I've written plenty of articles and how-to's on aftermarket bracelets and fitting them, but personally, I don't wear them except for a Kevlar strap on a diver.......... I don't find the 800 bucks for a new SS bracelet a bad investment if it will last another few decades........... Now, some of the fakes and counterfeits are poor imitations and a rip off, frequently........ don't go there.......

I don't think you are a looney. I can relate to wanting to keep the original bracelet nice, particularly on a vintage piece with the all too rare original bracelet.

I have an after market Jubilee on my GMT. I keep the original Oyster for a change out now and then. Other than the missing logo, I don't see much difference between the one I have and the Rolex Jubilee and I don't have to worry about roughing it up.

I think if your preserving the original bracelet, and don't pass it off as original, your fine.
As Larry said, Nato, and Zulu bands are not Rolex products, but people wear them every day. If you were to resell it, and not say anything, that would be an issue, but your just putting wear on the other bracelet. A purist would have an issue, but it makes sense. |

My wife's has an aftermarket bracelet. It doesn't bother her one bit.
I wanted mine 100% original and searched a while before finding it.

ALCON,
I put away the original ROLEX Oyster bracelet and wear my 16600 SD on this OMEGA SS mesh bracelet, which was only $200 USD. V/R, Mike |

I use a few HIRSCH Leather alligator strap on my Daytona, and I'm absolutely loving it - especially I can buy 3 Hirschs compared to one original Rolex strap... hehehe... So I can mix and match the colours if I get bored..

I did that with my panerai, kept the 2 OEM strap and put aftermarket strap tp preserve the value since its a rare watch today. I also did that on my datejust and kept the bracelet and put an aftermarket leather strap (hirsch to be exact).

So..
I have an aftermarket bezel on my GMT II
I have no problem with this either. I mean if you put a NATO or leather or mesh like guys said what's the difference in this case? Thoughts? JL

Sort of.....
I bought some aftermarket end links so that I sould fit a genuine Jubilee bracelet (borrowed from one of my Datejusts) to my Explorer II when I first got it....two reasons really.....I could not find genuine ones and the prices quoted for genuine ones when they became available were so high.....I'm glad I went that route, because even though I like the look I haven't really made the bracelet swap very often....in fact only a couple of times......so I am glad I have end links which cost me buttons sitting in a box than ones costing lots of dosh!!!.....here's what the Explorer II looks like with them fitted, very hard (if not impossible) to tell the end links are not the real thing....

Yes I do! I get pretty rowdy with my EXP-II and the watch head is plenty tough and easy to polish, the bracelets, however, are easier to damage and replacement cost for a real live Roex bracelet is insanely high. I use a high end Italian bracelet with build quality equal to Rolex.

No sorry, I don't. The only aftermarket item I would knowingly put would be a nato band. I wouldn't put an aftermarket oyster on becuase I would be the one who know it wasn't real. There was a time in my life when I had to wear aftermarket, but not today. If I can't afford it or don't want to ruin the original I buy it. Just me brother.

The thought of doing this actually crossed my mind. After a year of wearing it straight my 14060M bracelet looked 10x times older than the watch head itself. I just traded it and got a new LV. I thought about an aftermarket oyster or maybe even a pre-owned genuine to take some of the wear off the original bracelet. Then I think to myself "why?", its made to be worn all the time. Rolex didn't design the Sub to be worn only in certain conditions or only on special occasions where it wont get scratched. I should use it for all its worth. I go back and forth on these ywo ideas about 20 times a day! haha

Natos, rubber, and custom aftermarket straps work for me.
For bracelets I'll stick with OEM. dP
