Locker? would you or do you?

I go to the gym regularly and sometimes wear my SS sub. I would never leave it in a locker. I think a better place would be to secret it in a compartment of your vehicle. I just wear mine but do any of you guys really leave it in the locker while you work out??

http://www.northjersey.com/news/crim...ayne_gyms.html

Article is from my local paper. 15K Rolex stolen out of the locker while in the gym. WTF???

Never. Ever.
I would be way too stressed to workout if I left it in the locker.

The lockers at my gym are electronically locked using your membership card. But if your card is broken you just quote your locker number to the reception clerk and they can open it over the computer system...so basically anyone can get into any locker by just asking reception...it's for that reason that my watches have never been in the gym and stay locked in the safe at work.

The answer lies with insurance. I use a standard master lock and kept it in the locker. I just figure the watch is more apt to be affected on my wrist with 50 pound weights, than locked in a locker.

Never...

The gym (Spectrum Club) located in the city I work it regularly has lockers broken into and watches/wallets taken. There are 99% all from the men's locker room and 90% Rolex's. (I'm a WIS, so that is the first thing I look for)

Also, purses are taken from vehicles. 90% of the women park their vehicles in the gym lot, put their pursed in their trunk and then go into the gym.

I trust my gym because it's small and there are a lot of regulars but since it's an expensive watch...no.

Since my gym lockers have locks on them, I leave it in the locker all the time :) If they did not, I probably would leave it in the car when I went to the gym.

Yep. I leave mine in my gym bag (which I leave in a locker) all the time.

I leave mine in a safe place. It never even makes it to the gym parking lot. I definitely would not leave it in the car or the locker.

Forgive me for what could arguably be deemed an ignorant question, but why would you leave your watch in the locker while working out? Unless you have a watch with a leather band and were afraid that the band would get destroyed due to sweat, etc., it seems like the safest place for your watch would be on your wrist. What is the likelihood of someone dropping free weights on their wrist and crushing their watch? Regardless of the answer, I would bet the likelihood is far less than having some bozo break into your locker and remove your belongings. Further, I would imagine that you would be more pissed at yourself for having your watch stolen from your locker than damaging it from a work out. Admittedly, I'm a little biased b/c I've had my car broken into and luggage taken that was full of clothes, etc. Fortunatley, none of my watches were in the car at the time.

If you go to gym direct from work, hopefully your locker room is secure....if you go home take a Casio, lighter on wrist, you can wear it while working out. I don't like to wear any watch but a light black plastic Casio when I hike Or bike.
As an asides.....I joined a gym, spent big bucks too....so far I haven't lost any weight. I found out you actually have to go there.

Sure it's a "tool" watch...but not a tool for a workout. If your gym has no wall clocks, a plastic Nike watch is better "tool" for the job!

I left my Rolex in my gym bag in an open cubical to the side of my gym this morning. I just don't worry about it. Of course, it is a small gym and I know everybody who works/works out there.

As a police officer, I can say that the employees are the ones to watch, not the average person.

I've taken many reports in the past 10 years for theft from lockers. Everything from prescription pills, jewelry, purses, to cell phones, and I-pods. Those lockers are easy picking for an employee who is about to be fired, or having financial issues.

True your car could be broken into as well, but if the item is hidden well, your better off.

I wouldn't leave more than clothes in a locker myself

I can't possibly fathom why people wear watches to the gym...or why this topic keeps coming up.

Mine stays home but that's easy for me as my gym is in my building. Beyond that I'd leave it in the car...
