The one that really started it all...

Ok, this Sub is semi-special. Last of the Lug Holes / Series Y. But, this is also the first Rolex I bought myself (pre-owned) last year after much advice & counsel from folks here at TRF as well as the nice crowd / mods at WUS. I think a shout to that other forum from me is deserved as they so nicely take me/us in when the bad guys are pummeling our servers.

I opted for this pre-loved reference after agonizing over new ones / Rehauts / No Dates etc. AND my concurrent struggles to get comfortable with buying a used Rolex o v e r t h e I n t e r n e t !

My first post at TRF was one of those where a new guy asks for help identifying a watch / what it may be worth...I posted a photo of a Rolex mid-50's / early 60's Oyster Perpetual which was handed down to me and that I was considering selling.

Larry / Tools did not shoo me away and very nicely gave me his thoughts & some good advice.

With these musings, I am also semi-reluctantly commemorating my 5,000th post. Heck, 5,000 is a nice round number and really I do appreciate the camaraderie and community I have enjoyed here, hence the obligatory entry.

Thanks to everyone for all the advice / enabling and refuge over the last year of no-turning-back-entrance into the world of WIS-dom.

Bill

Bill, if I were to decide to buy something with less than 4 hands, that's the one I'd get! Very nice example .

Thanks to the Chris's

Say, Chris / GMT Master...if I ever make it back to the UK any time soon, I would love to visit your shop.

Here is the Subbie with accoutrement:

(OK, I had to scavenge for the tags and Anchor after the fact. Don't tell Padi. He will ridicule me for chasing down "Marketing Tat"

Superb watch!

Also congrats on reaching 5000 posts.

It looks immaculate too for a Pre Owned watch and the Sub is a watch I'll never grow tired of looking at.

Wear it in good health!
