One step at a time :-)
Let me plot a course for ya: 1. Generations 2. a Starwalker, or a Boheme 3. a classic Meisterstuck or a LeGrand Meisterstuck, or a Solataire (metal pens) 4. the 149 5. Writers' Edition (some or all of them) 6. Patron of Arts (they are beautiful! 4810 or 888 versions) 7. the skeleton series (John Harrison is one of those) 8. then the limitation of 4 pens and limitation of 1 pens :-) Step by step ![]() Ops, the above is just the modern pens. Do you want me to plot a course for vintage ones? ![]() |

Well, the "149" is Montblanc's flagship fountain pen. The Meisterstuck series was introduced back in 1924, and the 149 model debuted around 1952.
It's the quintessential Montblanc "cigar" pen. Over the years the design has remained largely the same, with minor fiddle around the nib, barrel, cap, piston mechanism, material etc. However, the shape remains the same and one can recognise it from far away. The normal production 149 is available in the following package: 1. black resin with gold furniture. (ident #10575) http://www.montblanc.com/products/bl..._pen.10575.php 2. gold with silver interleave (ident #02246) http://www.montblanc.com/products/pr...gold.02246.php 3. platinum with gold clip/ring. (ident #18002) http://www.montblanc.com/products/pr...inum.18002.php Over the past 50-60 years, I believe MB changed the appearance of the 149 once (there were a couple of other occasions when MB engraved some stamps on the cap of the 149, but that's not a "change"). In 1999, they had the 75th anniversary Meisterstuck series and MB released 3 editions of 149s that year - Special edition 75th, Limited edition 75th and the Skeleton 75th. The SE series was made only in 1999 and only MB knows how many they made. The LE 75th series has a limitation of 1924 pens. The main difference is on the cap top and the nib - SE - has a diamond on the cap top, white snowcap star, and a special 75th anniv nib. The pen has gold furniture. LE - has a diamond on the cap top, Mother of Pearl snowcap, and a special 75th anniv nib. The pen has rosegold furniture including the cap top, clip, capbands, and nib. Skeleton 75 - This is the first skeleton pen MB produced and the most coveted one. Limitation of 75 pieces. Example photo for SE: ![]() For LE ![]() For Skeleton 75 there is a link here - http://www.pensinasia.com/new/produc...e_fp_1656.html Hope this sort of explains the 149. ![]() BTW, E&OE. |

Congrats, I picked up one of the generation rollerball pens a few years ago and I really enjoy using it, it just feels right. the only bad part is I seem to use it to pay bills with so kind of a bitter sweet feeling
