Help on Rolex Cellini Danaos = Movement

I am looking at adding a Rolex Cellini Danaos to my collection, what movement is Rolex using. I understand it is a quartz movement. Any additional details would be great

It's a manual winding mechanical movement, non-COSC - apart from that, there's not much I can tell you. Sharp looking watch, I love the smaller sized white and rose gold model

I believe it uses the Caliber 1602, a traditional manual wind movement used exclusively for the Cellini models. Measuring 20.8mm x 2.32mm, it has 20 jewels, a 46 hr power reserve and beats at 21,600bph. It has a free sprung balance with a flat hairspring. Not a COSC certified chronometer but it is adjusted in 4 positions.

Man, if they could a sqeeked out a few more hours of power reserve, it would be ideal for a manual wind movement in my opinion. Wind it up every other day as opposed to everyday.

You are correct but even the Cellini Prince is Chonometer tested but not stated on dial. Today I would say that all Rolex mechanical movements could be tested

You could just wind it up every other day but 2hrs and 5 minutes earlier??

The Danaos reminds me of the old pillow case Rolex/Tudor watches from the late 40's. Particularly nice in the rose gold.

Eddie.

Hahaha!!! Or a quick wind once a day.

I am on the look-out for a pre-owned Rolex Cellini Danaos XL 4243 with all the goodies. The 4243 is the 38mm model. Forget about the smaller 4233 model. I am interested in either one of the white and rose gold models or white gold models.
