New to this wonderful world
I would first like to take the time to thank everyone in the RWF. It is rather refreshing to find a well organized forum these days. Now to the point.
As the title implies, I am new to the wonderful world of Rolex Watches. I am seriously considering buying a used Sub here in Houston Texas. I am having a hard time narrowing it down to the SS or the TT. If I go with the SS, I think it will be with the black dial. If I go with the TT, it will be with the serti dial. I like both for a variety of reasons but I wanted to get some comments. I know it is a personnel decision and should be based on what I like. The problem is, I like them both. I have read some post about the TT being outdated and SS is the new best thing. Will TT hurt a possible re-sale in the future? In addition, should I only look for a pre-owned watch with the box and papers? Thanks in advance for the valuable information. Cardinals Fan |

Either is a great choice but the ss will be easier to flip if that's what's important.
Welcome to TRF. And GO REDS! dP

SS tends to be most popular and have the best resale (as compared to purchase price). But that's only a factor if you plan on selling at some point.

SS has always been around.
Question is: Do ya what to spend the extra for the TT AND does it look good to you?! Welcome to TRF.

IMHO poor resale on TT models only applies when buying BNIB. When buying used, it will already be depreciated. I've noticed most used Rolexes settle at a price point and stay there.
Welcome to TRF!

Welcome to the terrib.... Ahem I mean wonderful world of rolex. I would have to disagree that TT is outdated. However the stainless steel models do have higher resellability compared to models that have TT or full gold. You should pick what you like better. After all a watch is for you to enjoy picking a watch that's highly resellable over a watch you truly want will almost guarantee that you will sell it in the near future which defeats the purpose of getting a watch in the first place.
P.S. Watch out for what many members here refer to as the "itch" the "bug" and many other aliases. You might get hooked and will want to buy more and more rolexes!!! |

Re-sale isn't my top concern but being a "bean counter", I always like to plan things out to the nth degree. I am not a "flashy" type of person, so the TT concerns me a little. But I have to say, the TT seems to draw my interest a little more than the SS. With that said, only time will tell which one I purchase. I will be sure to post a pitcure as soon as I get it.
In regards to Go Reds, it should be a good race but I have to believe the Cards will come through in the end. I don't think anyone from the Reds will be trash talking the Cards in the future after the recent sweep. |

I tried on a TT GMT and I felt like I had giant spotlight on my wrist. It looked beautiful but since I dress very casual a polo is dressed up for me the TT looked out of place on me. Try one on see how it feels it is the only way to know for sure.

I would describe a TT as slightly more "dressy" than a SS version, but it would still go well with jeans and a polo.

Cardinals Fan- Welcome aboard. Pull the trigger and get the TT. It is versatile and looks good with jeans or dress slacks. My 2c.

If you value versatility, the SS might be a stronger consideration - perhaps.
(Did that sound politically-polite enough?) - coming from a SS SUB lover. However, TT can be a nice addition - especially if you wear any gold - such as rings and/or necklaces etc. The SS might suffer a bit of a 'clash' in such situations. Most importantly... ENJOY your decision. |

Seems a bit steep......but it depends also if it's LNIB or Super Minty condition/with warranty.
Take your time and do your research. Good luck.

If I pay cash, i can get it for around $4,800. It comes with a one year warranty with papers and the box, etc. I can't say if it is "mint" or not as I am new to this area but it looks almost brand new to me.
