Maxi Dial & Squared Lug Case -- how long will it be the standard?

How long do u think Rolex will keep the maxi dial and squared lug case as standard in the tool watches? The tapered lug case had a loooooong run so wondering if they do the same with the maxis.

Well if the 116610 sells in the same volume as the 16610 I would expect 20 years plus. But if sales are not as expected who knows Rolex might return to the classic case design.

My guess is that the design will evolve again after a few years - but perhaps with smaller changes. For example, I love my GMTII-C, but I think the lugs might be more visually appealing if they were integrated better with the bracelet rather than being so sharp/squared off- through I think, the rest of the case and new bracelets look fantastic and make the watch look better than the earlier model overall. - but that is my opinion of course.

No freakin idea here for me! Some may argue that the faster they change it, the more collectible the supercase and maxi dial may be. Others will say differently. If it ain't popular, it won't be worth any thing later. I just don't know. I am loving my GMTIIC but do kind of wish the bracelet was either larger on top or the lugs were slightly more tapered. But, like I said, I love it so.....I am OK with it. Besides....IT'S A ROLEX!

Rolex has invested heavily in the newly styled submariner line. Refinements will be made over time but watch case size/style is here to stay. Its' not a radical departure from the case that has been around since the late 60's.

Only if trends change to smaller styles again, and knowing Rolex, it would be a while even then...
