Knowledge for Newbies
Hi folks, I hope I am posting in the correct place. I am new to the fourm and always check out the watch out section. I have noticed many watches listed & of course they are mostly from Ebay. When I look at them the majority of the time I can't see what's wrong. My question is this: Do the folks who regularly post on the watch out section not list the faults of the watch so the scammers will not get a heads up or do they think most viewers will see the picture and know? Although I have worn a Rolex since 83, I realized after finding and joining this site a month ago that I know nothing about the brand and determining authenticity and correctness. So, if the people posting assume Rolex lovers like me know whats wrong with a particular watch, chances are we really don't. If you don't post whats wrong to protect the innocent from the scammers, would a pm used very very sparingly be OK? I don't want to ever be a nusiance to anyone but on a watch or two I have seen in the last month I would really like to learn what is wrong for future reference. I am very happy to have found TRF and hope this isn't a stupid request.

I'm also new to this forum and think this sounds nice. I support the idea.

Usually when an item is incorrect, or counterfeit, the member posting identifies the defects. Sometimes they are so obvious that they are not posted in the listing. Many members here that are unaware of an item being discussed usually jump in and question what is being discussed.
If you see something being discussed and are unsure of what it is, feel free to ask a question or two which will help you understand the discussion and aid you in future purchases.

I normally only pick out watches that I am familiar with, ie. Subs, becuae they are the only Rolex that I can really tell, mainly because I have owned a few and can tell quickly when one is a fugazi or not....
