Do you have a favorite watch in your collection? If so, why?

I have always had a special place in my heart for my very first "real watch," the Submariner I admired and saved $$$ for a decade to buy, and which I have now added 20 years of history to. This will always be my No. 1.

I have to say though that my "Spec Ops" DRSD is quickly filling the role of No. 2. This watch was given to me earlier this year by a retired U.S. Navy SEAL officer. The more I research the history of this watch, and the more I wear it, the more I love it.



If you know anybody that actually served in a special operations unit in the military, you know how difficult it is to get them to talk about their military experience. The guys who are the "real deal" just don't talk about their service. The original owner of my watch is no different. I know his unit, the years he served, his rank upon retirement, and some of the countries he served in, but he has divulged very little else. I have learned more from publicly available sources, and every time I peel back another layer of the onion I just get a broader smile on my face.

Anyway, my favorite watch is the one I have the most history with. My second favorite watch is becoming the watch that has the most history from someone else -- the "leaky Rolex" that was used as a tool by a special operator for three decades and then given as a gift to a younger man who appreciated both the watch, its history and the service of its original owner.

I actuallylike my SS GMTIIC and SS Daytona the best right now. The other 2 are really nice as well but the those listed above are my current favorites.

Favorite is hard to nail down for me. It changes from time to time.

It might be a Hamilton, or a G-Shock, or even a Timex.

But, for now, it's the DJ. It's new. New watches always get preference.

My Rolex Submariner - simply because its such a well known and much loved classic watch. Love my two Omegas too but the Sub is top dog in my current collection.

My favorite that I will always have until the day I die is my Seiko(on the right) I got from my parents when I entered high school I have had it since 1984 and it has been sent back to Seiko from time to time for cleaning and so on. I have worn that all over the place but mostly now it gets pulled out for special occasions, and it runs like a champ. after that I think my Sub that I bought myself for my 40th is next in line

It was my first luxury watch and first Rolex into the real world of WIS, plus green is my favourite colour.

My SD is my favorite. It was my first "real' watch after going through several quartz Tag Heuers. I bought it new back in 2000, and it's been with me on more adventures than any other watch.

A close second is my LV. This was a surprise present from my wife for our 13th wedding anniversary. I hadn't even told her that I wanted one. She just saw it at the AD, and surprised me with it right before going to dinner.

A favorite? I have to say I love my SMP the most because I bought it in college and have worn it since.

I now wear my DJ more because I'm still in the Rolex "ether."

SS Sub was my first and my favorite. To me, it is still the "BEST" Rolex out there and the classic that drew me to the brand.

The others are fantastic but if I ever had to go to one watch, the Sub would be the one I keep. I was perfectly happy with "only" one Rolex for 8 years - now I can't go 7 months wihtout thinking I "need" another Rolex. What the heck is wrong with us?!?!?
