MontBlanc New Limited Pen Series
I was just looking today at MontBlanc's web site and they have the new limited John Lennon pen series. It comes in three different price points and the Limited series pen comes in all three pen types; fountain pen, rollerball and ball point pen, I think they really look cool and will probably buy one, the fountain pen and not end up buying the Mark Twain fountain pen...as I can not buy both at this time. They are already available at the MontBlanc boutiques if you want to take a look!!!

Pic of the JL pen
here's a pic for you
and from the press release... "Almost 30 years after his tragic death John Lennon proved he still has star-pulling power at the launch of a series of luxury pens to commemorate what would have been his 70th birthday. Montblanc has released three pens inspired by the legendary musician with part of the proceeds going to music education charities including the John Lennon educational tour bus. The pens were launched on the weekend at star-studded events in New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Berlin and Mexico. Susan Sarandon hosted the New York launch which included a performance of Lennon's song Imagine by Christina Aguilera, accompanied by Linda Perry on the piano. Lennon's widow Yoko Ono attended the Berlin launch. The pens feature design elements inspired by the musician. Two of these will be available in Australia from October - a general release pen and a limited edition version available in a run of 1940 (the year of Lennon's birth). Both pens feature a guitar head clip, Lennon's self-portrait signature, and a peace symbol engraved on the 18-carat gold nib. The limited edition pen also features a blue tansanit stone on the clip and the release date of Imagine. No prices have been released for the pens."

Idk how I feel about this one. I know he wrote great music but was Lennon a pen enthusiast? It just seems like theyre reaching with this one. Beyond that, the pen itself is an incredible design.

I've checked the price for the 1940 LE.
>$3000. It's a lot of money but I think it will be very popular. |

Yes, I'm planning on buying the Special Edition but will wait for the Fountain Pen Hospital to get in their supply because they are selling it for $90.00USD below retail and I believe no sales tax!!!

The Lennon pen is part of their Donation series -all around musicos. The Special edition is not limited, but only produced within the year. The other LE Lennon is limited to 1940 and there's a more "limited" one at 70 pieces. I think the SE is price approx US$960, LE1940 at $3.3k and the 70 is at $25k.
Quite certain this one will be a hit for MB after their boo boo on Gandhi. |

A correction for the price of SE Lennon pen - US$920. FPH has it up for preorder now.
If you email them asking for the LE 1940, they will tell you their price too, just over $3k. |

I like MB pens, but they will do just about anything to sell writing instruments. Including naming a line after a musician that probably never used more than a Bic.

Thanks for sharing. I immediately went out my way to check out the John Lennon pen.
It's very beautiful, the body (normal version) is designed to feel like your old vinyl records. The clip I like the most, like a guitar neck. Very expensive, and as mentioned above, I believe the man probably never used anything more than a pencil. Cheers, |

Just a thought to everyone who is judging the man and as to all he used is a Bic or a pencil.....have you always used a fountain pen or did you use a pencil or a Bic when you were younger!!! The series that John Lennon is being honored is under the Patron of the Arts series and he was a famous composer and poet whose contemporary equal was Paul McCartney.....Peace be with you!!!
