Ive got a couple of those bouncing around in my glovebox.... nothing special....

Honestly though, I dont even think it looks that good in the pic you've added. At that cost, it ought to do my taxes for me....

Of course. $1.7M can buy a lot of carats :-) That pen has got at most 3 carats of tiny stones and that's worth at most $5k.

I would be most surprised if it would be sold. To me it's more a marketing exercise.

I think it's a nice pen but I would spend my 1.7 million differently...buy a few pens and invest the rest in collector coins!!!
As a matter of fact the first copper U.S. coin to break a million at auction was an early copper large cent.....

That is an insane number. But then again its all relative. To some, spending even a few hundred on basic MB I is ridiculous. These are emotional purchases afterall.

I've probably lost a hundred pens through the years on traffic stops!!! I've learned to keep the Cross's in my pocket and use the cheap Bics for the tix.

They're the best pen IMO, have 100's scattered around the office and warehouse, can always find one when I need one. They work very well and are shockproof too

You can chuck a bunch of precious jewels on anything and make it $XXXXX in value.

Pens aren't jewelery usually and so the application of jewelery seems like a stunt to make a truck load of money. The resale would take a heavy dive in value that's for sure.

It's still a rat (which is not good).
However, in this case a pen is good, but the addition of numerous superfluous jewels does little if anything except provide a lot of sparkle IMHO.

I would very much like to know the raw cost of the jewels and the raw cost of the pen. I would be surprised if that added up to $1.7 million or anywhere near that. Obviously there is the labour cost in attaching the jewels to the pen.....I would strongly suspect a big chunk of profit is involved in this.
