Will try that someday. My current favorite is a Mont Blanc ball point (BROAD). Very, very smooth too.

Do you need permanent black or you're ok with washable? Perle Noire is very washable...

Yeah, the 30ml bottles can't feed the 149 properly. You'll have to decant it lol.
I'd use Noodler's Bulletproof black. The Bulletproof black is black black black, but it tends to feather on lower quality paper. When I said washable, Perle Noire still quite viewable after wet ![]() I've heard Noodler's Heart of Darkness is even better/blacker than Noodler's Black, but I haven't been able to get one here. :( |

Noodlers Wardens series "Bad Black Moccasin". It's black, wet and PERMANENT.

I actually like Waterman's black for it's shading. Pelikan black is very black but boring for me. Cheers,

Personally, I have gotten into and like the colored inks better than standard black, blue or blue/black. I currently am using Bordeaux in on FP and Oyster Grey in the other!!!

If you want a really black black black ink try Noodlers "Heart of Darkness". I don't have feathering problems with it even on cheap office paper, and it's super black!

The Montblanc 149 and other large nib pens do seem to have somewhat of a problem getting the ink from smaller bottles, especially when they get 1/2 empty

I like how the mb ink bottle is devided like saddle bags so one can get more ink out. I'm currently using blue black but could get into other colors. This is probably why you guys have multiple pens. How hard is it to switch colors?

Depends on the saturation of the ink, it takes from 3 flushes to soaking overnight to remove all traits of a said ink from the pen. I have found J. Herbin inks to be very good in taking only a few flushes (<10) to get it cleaned, while some MB inks (e.g. old MB Violet, MB seasons ink White Forest) are bloody difficult to get rid of.

My vote for best black would be a blue....either Montblanc Royal Blue to be exact. J Herbin makes a nice blue too, but MB remains my fav.
99% of my work writing is in blue to be able to distinguish original docs from copies and I like the look of blue better. ![]()
