Good day Rolex Forumers

, i was just wondering, was there any datejust 16014 released with oyster bracelet in it? i notice mostly came with the jubilee bracelet.. if so, what are the stampes or serial numbers to be found on a oyster bracelet for a datejust? will a sub, gmt, daytona oyster bracelet fit?

I don't follow the numbers on bands.

However, I believe all the watches you mention have 20mm lug spacing which means they can all use the same bracelet.

Be sure the end pieces corrospond to whether or not your lugs have holes, otherwise removal could get dicey.

thanks for the reply rmfnla, do you know what end pieces corresponds to a datejust 16014 (vintage with holes)? would it look weird(original spec wise) to have an oyster bracelet on a vintage datejust?

Again, I don't do the numbers; there are just too many of them. I'm sure you could Google them if you really care but as long as you get a band & end pieces for 20mm lugs you will be OK.

I think an oyster band looks great on all Rolex watches; I put one on my TT DJ and love it. I also found a domed bezel to go with it.

I assume you have the WG fluted bezel, which will look just fine.

FWIW, if you can find one with a polished center link it will really set off that bezel.

It will be a pain to maintain, but it will look great!

Have you found any information about oyster bracelet serial numbers. I am also looking for an oyster bracelet for my vintage (1982) datejust. As I understand, it would be the 73860. I have seen them with 558 (B?) endpieces. Are these end pieces for the more recent datejusts or also for vintage models?

You can try:

78360 with 558 end (oyster)

62510 H with 555 end (jubilee)

I was infromed that the appropriate bracelet for a vintage Datejust would be the 73860 bracelet with 558 ends. Regarding, the appropriate code, I was alerted to the website: http://www.oysterworld.de/

This site has a page" Code on the clasp" giving the appropriate letter code for the date of your watch. My Datejust from 1982 would have a clasp "G" from 1982 or I could use B,D, F fro 1981.

Check it out.

A Rolex authorised dealer should be able to order one through Rolex, better than getting a second hand one IMO

From 1945 until after 1956, when the Day Date made it's Flagship debut, the Datejust was only offered with the Jubilee bracelet.. That's probably why it's considered the "classic" look.

As for fitting an Oyster Bracelet to the DJ; practically any Oyster bracelet with the early separate end-links will fit. It's just a matter of what clasp you like and that's generally what the part number identifies..

The proper end-links to use with the 36mm DJ case and 20mm lug width, is #558. This gives you the proper contour to fit the case, although many others can be bent slightly to fit...

I had my Authorized Rolex Dealer install an Oyster band on my 1964 1601 Datejust about 10 years ago. It's a 73860 with 558 endlinks, 20mm.
