Clasp Protection

OK, so I know this is obsessive but I just cut a strip of a phone screen protector and put it on my clasp. You really can't see it and it should save a desk diving mark or three. I used the stretchy type like that made by Zagg. I know I am a nut so feel free to have fun and goof on me all you want - I can take it.

Yeah but you do start wearing down the metal. I wonder if this would work on a daytona bezel?

Come on... It is like wearing condoms.. We all know it is safe, but you do not get the same feeling wearing them...

Only way to avoid scratches is to leave the watch at home...

And lets not even start with PCL's, those ones scratch even inside of the box...

Get a set a sweat bands for your wrist, preferably a set that matches the dial on your watch!

I did exactly the same thing...

To my TT SubC. I used packing tape. What I did was cut off a piece that was several layers thick. That way, after I laid it down on the table to cut it to size, I wasn't picking up any dust, dirt or grime...it was a clean piece.

I then used a small metal scale to measure and cut a piece 3/16ths by 1 1/4" with an Exacto knife. When placing it on the clasp be careful with the blade...it will scratch the clasp easily. You can use your finger but then you'll see the oily print from your finger underneath the tape.

I picked up the tape off the stack with the blade at the end that will be opposite from the flip lock. That way, the 1.25" length puts the blade off of end of the clasp and away from scratching it. After you lay on the tape, you gently roll the blade off of the tape's end and there should be an 1/8th inch or so hanging off...and that you roll underneath the clasp buckle.

Does superb job of keeping the scratches off, stands up well to washings and doesn't leave behind an adhesive residue when you change for a new piece.

I know..I know...use it like it was intended

Flame suit on!

I understand what your trying to do but the watch is meant to be worn and enjoyed... Scratches and all. IMO this is silly. If you want to avoid scratches just leave it in the box

That's like putting plastic on your furniture.

Plastic on furniture...haha...well, whatever floats your boat...if the scratches bothered me, I'd get the watch polished, but I like a watch to look "lived-in" a little...

I guess if I had the gold or polished ss I might consider the same. My ss clasp has a few battlescars but for some reason it doesn't bother me as much as if it was elsewhere on the bracelet or case. And I never expect to sell it so resale is not an issue. I figure whichever of my sons gets the watch after me won't care about the scratches either!

Don't you wear you watch very strange to buy a expensive watch to keep on a artificial winder when the best winder is your own wrist.
