How rare are the 116618's ?

Hi,

I'm considering getting a yellow gold blue ceramic sub, but I can't find any used anywhere.

About a year ago there was one in a Swedish pawn shop, at a good price too, but didn't have the funds ATM.

Are they rare because there aren't so many made, or because people don't like them ?

Check out "generalwar" on Ebay. That's Jon Todd's company and he usually has at least one. I got my GMTII-C from him and wouldn't hesitate ot recommend him. His phone number is in his listings, give him a call!

Thanks.

Had a look at his stuff, but the price for the 116618 is way to high for me, it was even more expensive then the white gold sub. At least the buy it now price.

Do you know how much lower his bidding reserve is ?

Give him a call and see what happens, he accepted my offer so is obviously willing to deal if you're in his "range"!

Nejo,
the 116618 is a new model and therefore it is not that easy to find lots of used ones yet... So the watch is not rare at all it's just a 2 years old model

Thats just simply down to the mass density Gold is 19320 kg/cu.m while Stainless steel 7480 - 8000 kg/cu.m.And you pay quite a high price for the gold, but take away the precious metal you have exactly the same watch as the S.Steel.

The pawn shop has locations in the major Swedish cities, however I belive this was the Stockholm branch (I'm in southern Sweden).

It's called "Pantbanken" (The Pawn Shop) and the address is www.pantbanken.se

The direct link to the auction: http://www.pantbanken.se/scripts/f2p...f_Typ=&kontor=

It was sold for 100k SEK + 15% which would be 115k SEK which is about USD 17 000.

Yea but that all yellow gold with the blue dial just blows your mind away, it may be the same inards as a stainless steel sub but the gold is so much more impressive......

A solid YG watch is not for everybody but nevertheless it does represent a significant value. Some people like it and others dont. Someone said that no matter what a scrap solid 18k would still hold some value while a clump of stainless steel is just crap.

I totally agree with the money you pay for this amount of gold is 'overpriced'. However solid precious metal watches' price tag is designed for plat AMEX holder.. if we reconsider again..the current price of a SS Sub C is a little bit over the top.

my 2 cent :D
