Aqua Terra Chronograph GMT
I am a beginner in watches and lot of things gets me curious and asking question is my last hope when Google doest have answers.
I have been studying all the watches on the Omega website, The Aqua Terra Chronograph GMT watch got me curious. What is the use of the chronograph function and how to read it when there is no tachymetre dial on the watch ? Am I missing something here ? Any education is appreciated. |

Hi,
The bezel readings on a GMT watch are for a 24hr clock. This is to be used with the extra hour hand for being able to set the watch for two different time zones. A chronograph is basically a stopwatch and can be read regardless of what ever the bezel is for, although the bezel readings can add an extra function to the chronograph such as on the Speedmaster in which it measures units per hour. Hope that helps Russ |

the chronograph measures elapsed time and there are many chronos out there that lack a tach on the bezel. My AT Chrono for example.
Unlike a standard three hand watch where the big second hand shows the time, the big central second hands here will point to elapsed seconds since the start pusher (the one at 2 o'clock) as been pushed. The subdial at 3 points to elapsed minutes and the one at 6 displays elapsed hours since the start button was pushed. The subdial at 9 takes the function of the normal second hand on a watch. To stop the stopwatch you push the button at 2 again, and to reset you would push the one at 4.
