Complication watches.

Just wondering which would go on top of the list. And I'm just saving up on one or either...

1. The JLC Duometre Quantitime Lunaire. This is a very prominent watch, I've seen it in person, and it's BEAUTIFUL. Really. The technological advancement in this piece no doubt a break through with it's 1/6th of a second small dial, and the dual wing concept. The watch is also large enough to get noticed! 42-43mm in diametre.




2. The Patek Platinum Annual Calendar. This is a Patek. Enough said. Annual calendar function, pure classic. It's 39mm in diametre, and it's probably one of Patek's most iconic watches.





3. AP Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar. Iconic watch with a great dial, but maybe a little bit too busy. But it's delicious.





So which tops your list from these 3?

Three fine watches but the Patek is so much cleaner looking.

I'd prefer the RO Perpetual without the skeleton dial -- way too busy for my taste.

That particular JLC looks amazing.

However I have already figured that my next watch should either be the Patek annual calendar or the Patek perpetual calendar.

The Patek currently tops my list.

Between those two, the JLC for the looks.

Didn't take the time to look up all of these watches specs though.

But I'd browse for other PPs before buying a watch that expensive.

which is imo nicer than the platinum calendar
ok, it's red gold and not platinum, BUT you have also the calendar + a chrono
and nothing beats a Patek chronograph !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the JLC and would pick it in a heartbeat........if the PP wasn't in the mix. It's a winner either way, but the Patek gets my vote here.

Patek is great, but I like the older non-complication, calatreva with a sweep hand.

I have the PP 5146G -- the WG version. It's stunning. Unless you are absolutely set on having the platinum version, there's a substantial saving to be had, like a "two Rolex" saving!

That is what this one is for---with my new custom black strap just put on today. Took 12 weeks to get from Patek!!! They are both nice--different--and enjoyable as well.

Without a shadow of a doubt my choice would be with the Patek 5146.

The main reason for me, is that the other two pieces, are far to busy for my liking.

The clean and relative clean dial, in comparison to the other pieces, just makes it so easy to read.

And besides, I was fortunate to have owned two (at different times) 5146's in J & G.

Anyone not voting for the JLC has no idea how it's built. It's a revolutionary new technology using two "hearts" and winding mechanisms that are linked together.

The PP is a simple annual calendar, and while the AP is a nice perpetual calendar, but it's aesthetics are nothing new. Same old 4 subdial boring layout. The JLC contains revolutionary new concepts, and its aesthetics are something that haven't been seen before. I'd pick the JLC in a heartbeat over any of those if price wasn't a consideration.

the JLC is indeed a very interesting piece and in a technical point of view it is amazing.

But i just don't like the watch, imo it is not beautifull.

Richard Mille, Hautlence, Gruebel Forsey, ... they all make very special watches but I do not like their design.

If I had much money and I could choose one watch today, it would probably be the Laurent Ferrier Tourbillon. Google it and you know what I mean

I know what you mean, I had the privilege to meet Laurent Ferrier once. He's quite the amazing man. He actually plans on releasing more than just that one Tourbillion model, which I really look forward to.

Of course, I'm not about to go out and drop 200k on a watch, but it would be a front runner if I was going to. The movement is really quite amazing.

On the other hand, in a more affordable pricerange (60k) there's Philippe Dufour, who is a complete perfectionist. He crafts every watch by hand and makes all of the cases etc himself. His designs appeal to me more than Laurent Ferrier's, but it's hard to ignore that beautiful Tourbillion movement...

I can agree about RM, GF, and Hautlence though. None of their designs are appealing to me visually.

Hate to say it because I love JLC, but that's my reaction too. It has a beautiful mind but not a beautiful face IMO.
