Do you buy NEW or PRE-LOVED?
Just curious. Seems like a Rolex LNIB under 6 months old with B&P is basically new. If you go to flip it, you won't take that 'hit'.
Only reason I ask b/c I recently picked up a LNIB Sub Date 'Z' serial a few months old worn about 10 times. To save $1500 off MSRP & have no tax seems like a win/win. Watch is MINT. I didn't get to peel the sticker off the case, or my name isn't on the papers, but I saved almost $2k! what are your thoughts on this? do you only buy new? |

To date, I've been buying Rolex previously loved. The 14060 was previously loved (no box or papers, but had a long chat with the seller before jumping on it).
My wife's 6618 was bought from a reputable vintage seller and RSC verified it as well. Finally my SD was bought from a TRFer at a bargain price. All in all, pre owned is for me, unless a good sale like JJ's SD comes along. IMHO, as long as the seller is legit, known and has good references, its all good. The only two watches that I bought new from an AD were the 2531.80 Omega SMP and the Chrono Avenger, and oh my Seiko SKX007 was new too!

I'm on the hunt for my first rolex still and I've wrestled with this question quite a bit. Since my first one will be passed down to my newborn son, I want it to be nothing but new. Our family name on the papers and everything. For that I think paying full price is worth it. After this first one, I could certainly see looking and a pre-owned as long as it was in good shape and I was buying from a reliable source.

Buying pre-owned is good if the seller is honest!

I bought my new, but I would buy a pre-loved one if the condition was good, the seller was trustworthy and the price was worth it.

I bought my first three Rollies previously worn. My next (and so far last) one was NIB, papers and all.
I buy previously worn and NIB equally. Depends on the watch and the deal.

My old GMT and my current SD were both bought preowned. I saved a bundle buying this way. Nothing against AD's at all, they're great, but I'm on a budget, so the HUGE preowned savings are a must.

Pre-loved. Let someone else take the initial depreciation hit. Same with cars.
Besides, I haven't come across a new one I've really wanted yet anyway. I prefer the vintage models.

All six I have left were BNIB from an AD. I think it is worth it, plus now I have a relationship with a great AD.
There is nothing wrong with used however, not with the latest prices Rolex is selling for. |

My first (SS Sub) was bought BNIB from an AD. My second was bought at preownedrolex.com. In the future I'll probably buy gray market or LNIB and let someone else take the hit. I bought my dream rolex new and that's good enough for me.

NIB from AD, for the peace of mind.
Would not mind buying the next one pre-loved, now with a little more skills to detect a fake. |

i have bought 3 watches BNIB(my PO, a corum and an oris) and and many more pre loved(i like that term!) and to be honest i would always go pre oved from now on, if you're buying from someone who looks after their watches then there often isnt a difference apart from the massive reduction- having said that if i were to buy a patek or my grail JLC grand master memovex i think i would liketo experience the whole BNIB from an AD- with them swanning round after me!

Pre loved: let someone else scratch it first and also because I like the vintage ones much much more.

All,BNIB from AD.It just depends on what you can get for what .. On all occasions I have looked at the used ones, first, but everytime the AD gives me such a good deal on new that its not worth buying used.
Not all are preloved, some are pretty much ,very used. |

I had read some of the testimonials. They're one of the two internet sellers that I had constantly checking out. But after the glitch, I now prefer, the other internet seller, I also have been checking out for years. Thanks. |

Why would I bother with pre-loved when the brand new prices I get are probably far better than the pre-loved ones you guys pay for?
Points in example: BNIB TT Blue Sub.....US$5900 out-the-door. BNIB SD......US$4100 out-the-door!!

Answer for myself is so simple for this quote I dont know anybody, prices are high here, no discount, and that is why I will buy same Rolex that you bought for 5900 will be about 7300 for me and I'm so nervous to see that I ve no chance to buy cheaper so please do not remind prices.

I prefer Vintage Rolex's so pre owned is the only way to go for me.
I have made around 10 Rolex purchases pre-owned and all bar one were faultless the odd one was a great transaction, but the watch cost me as much again to have serviced by Rolex as it had been badly treated I have purchased one BNIB Daytona from an AD and the experience was absolutely faultless. |

I called Alan Furman. They told me that all of thier Rolex are brand new. Never been worn. Thier prices are lower than MSRP from an AD with the exception of the LV and the SS Daytona. How can they do this? Thier TT Blue Sub is almost $800 less than I paid.

So, I got an e-mail, Monday, the following week, stating that it was mailed through USPS. After exchanges of several e-mails, I was finally told that delivery is Tuesday, before 2:30 p.m. But, technically, I had paid for overnight shipping. My SD was graded 1- and seemed accurate. Prices are reasonable, but MORE pictures should be shown on their website. |

I used swissluxury.com (I believe is the proper URL) to buy my father's TT Blue Sub. And had an excellent experience.
