Is it possible to have the luminescence enhanced?

I have recently become a bit disappointed with the weak staying power of the "lume" on my new Submariner LV as well as my 7 year old Yachtmaster. Is there any way to send the watch somewhere and have the luminescence enhanced to glow light a Paneri or other sport watch with excellent lume?

Interesting and good question. It has probably been covered on trf in the past.... with that said, I'd venture to say yes.

Mike: very interesting question. If it's lume you crave, you can always buy a Ball Watch..some of their models give off so much light you can use them as a flashlight!

Hi chap,

Why not have the hands relumed the only side the lume would have to be slightly green as that has the BEST GLOW.

I think you can put the watch under directly under a lamp for a few days and it bring the lume back? I think I've had a customer tell me they phoned Rolex and that was their response.

Jack Alexyon at IWW (Google it) will be able to apply new luminova, I had a Seiko 6105 diver done by him a few years ago and was really impressed with his workmanship

Actually you could also just ask Rolex to replace the dial and hands at the next service, that way its still 100% and you won't have any issues \ problems at a later date

I don't buy watches for the lume. Having said that, I was pleasantly surprised by the new blue lume on the Sub-c. My other lume-equipped watches all have the standard green glow that starts nice and bright for about 15 minutes and then fades to uselessness within 20 minutes or half an hour.

I have seen others here post that the blue lume seems to be quite a bit more linear in its illumination level. That is, it starts out not quite as bright as the green, but it fades much more slowly so that it is still usefully lit for the whole night. My experience seems to bear that out.
