TT Sub - urgent advice re hologram please
Tomorrow (Monday) I am planning on buying a used TT Sub. I met the seller yesterday and everything seems to check out w papers and numbers (Mayors in Ft Myers seperated the bracelet and case to verify).
My only reservation is the hologram and this is where I need an opinion...fast. The watch has a hologram protector and when I removed the protector the hologram looks like a solid green circle with a crown in gold and 16613 in gold below the crown. Is it possible that the 1999 hologram reflection has worn off leaving the green circle? What most concerns me is that online web resources say that Rolex did not start putting the crown on the hologram above the model number til 2002. Can anyone confirm this? In other words, would a 1999 16613 orig hologram have had a gold crown and gold 16613 model #? I really want this watch as everything else seems to check out. Note that I have not had the back removed and will pay to have this done as a last resort. Regards and thanks ! . |

Well don't worry about a hologram if bracelet has been removed and serial checks out with the papers.Thats the most important, and if it checks out fine, thats a very good sign. But for your peace of mind, same Mayors could get back off to check to be 100% sure. The hologram is just in reality a useless bit of paper.Welcome to TRF

Hi Rex, welcome to TRF.
Good luck with the TT Sub. Is it black or blue?

If its a 1999 model with a green sticker and gold crown then it checks out as correct. Its only in recent years Rolex changed to the hologram sticker. I recall my old Date Rolex from '99 with the same sticker from an AD. You shouldn't have any worries.
