McNabb 5 years 78 Million . . . REALLY?

Huge Redskins fan, but they must be crazy to sign McNabb to a five year contract extension at his age.

And watching tonight's game, I'm starting to wonder if ANY of the Redskins players or coaches should keep their jobs after this absurd first quarter.

He'll be 34 in like 10 days. Great move redskins. Better your team than mine.

My parents taught me that if I don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all. Well, they can't hear me right now and the redskins made a stupid move. However, I doubt they will pay all 78 million and for the next two years or so McNabb probably gives them the best chance to win. Its just a business and I just heard that there is close to 10 million guarantee. So it is not that bad.

As I type this, he just threw the first interception that seems to be his fault tonight.

It is an idiotic move by the Redskins since there is $40 million guaranteed not $10 million. Even if he gives them 2 good years that is a lot of money especially considering he has been mediocre at best this year.

Having said that Vick is on fire tonight.

Eagles showing some intensity, Skins need to wake up.

Unreal contract given to McNabb, need a better team around him.

10 mil is understandable and I agree if it truely is 40 mil guaranteed, then it is idiotic to say the least.

That is insane, when I heard the contract figure I assumed it was something like 8-12 million guaranteed with alot of incentives, but 40 million???? That's the same amount of money Ndamukong Suh got from the lions (still ridiculous but he has proven his worth thus far and they had no choice). Someone get me Mcnabb's agent, I want him to negotiate the terms of my contract when I choose which law firm to work for.

Wait, 16 games a season not counting the playoffs X5=80 games @40mil. That's what about 8K a minute while on the field? WOW. Higher due to the fact actual PLAYING time is less than 60 minutes in a game. More like 45minute. Yikes! Any way you cut it,...That is a LOT of moola.

Hopefully the 'Skins have structured it so that they have the option for a cheap and early buy-out. This isn't to say that McNabb isn't deserving of a large contract, he has a proven track record of being a top tier QB, but it's just the fact that his age does not merit such a long and expensive deal. The Redskins would have to be utterly stupid to have made the deal with no way to get out early at a discount. I'm sure the intracaies will be made public soon, especially after the shalacking they got at home last night at the hands of what looks to be the 2010 NFL MVP...

I sat in the stadium last night and It was horrible. As for the contract situation the 40 mill guarantee is a rumor for now. How many NFL contracts are actually fulfilled in the first place. I see him staying maybe two years and he's gone.

40 million guaranteed would be ridiculous, but I haven't seen that confirmed. And this isn't baseball. He doesn't make the team he doesn't get paid. beerformplz is correct, a lot of these large contracts never reach fruition.

McNabb's situation was clarified today. He got a 3.5 million bonus for the rest of this year and then the Redskins have the option of opting out at the end of the season without giving him another dime. If they keep him for next year then the rest of the contract kicks in.
