Explorer II questions

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and this would be my first Rolex.

I'm looking to purchase a brand new explorer II (3186 movement), what serial # does the most current model begin with? V, Z? or it doesn't matter?

Thank you for your help

Hi there and welcome to TRF !
A few months ago (I think it was this spring) Rolex stopped using serial numbers that always begin with a letter indicating production year. The serial numbers are now random and (normally) don't start with a letter but a numeral. So, the answer to your question is that the most recent models should have random serial numbers.

Cheers

My M serial has the 3186 (based on all the tests), but I understand that not all M's have a 3186. Not sure, though, if that means that the M is the bridge.

Anyway, not much difference between the 3185 and 3186, anyway.....

i have both 3185 GMT and a 3186 EII...as far as movements go, 3186 is simply better it seems. more accurate, crisp setting behavior, etc.
