Prices: lady datejust vs. submariner

Pretty new to these watches (and my first post on this forum), but I can't understand why a rather plain stainless lady datejust (without jewels, with a jubilee band and the bezel with the ridges or facets) would retail for more than my submariner. The price we were quoted was $5400. It seems that the sub would cost more to make. Am I missing something here? Your thoughts are appreciated.

nutria - you connected to them critters in some way? I used to enjoy introducing them to my .22LR Woodsman!

Fluted bezel is white gold for one. Dial makes a big difference too - for example a MOP dial will add approx. $1000 to the price.

A totally SS DateJust for ladies should be around $4695, unless it has white gold center links and gold bezel. Make sure it is totally Stainless Steel, without any gold parts.

I believe that one can have just the WG bezel without WG center links - that would bring it to about 5400.

The bezel which you describe to be with ridges or facets is known as the FLUTED bezel and is made up of solid White Gold. That's where your extra $$$ are going.

Welcome to TRF.

Remember one thing....on the SS models the FLUTED bezel is 18 K WG....whereas the smooth, polished bezel is SS.

As for the prices of those two watches, you may want to check out used prices. You should see a big difference on resale. Especially a TT ladies DJ.
