old vs. new jubilee bracelet ?
Question for those who have worn both the former style and current style jubilee bracelet. Is the new hidden clasp superior in every way, or is there some advantage which the old style offered, not found on the new version?

I have not tried on one of the older style jubilee's. Does its micro adjustment clasp have a range equaling 2 or 3 links, more ? So that the wearer never has to add or remove links ?

I have owned both and couldn't get the super jubilee adjusted correctly - I ended up flipping my DJ it annoyed me that much - my GMTII has the old style jubilee bracelet which I much prefer.

Woody,
More detail please. Is it that the old style micro adjusting classic jubilee clasp offered a more precise overall length than you could get by adding/removing the new style super jubilee links ? |

I HIGHLY recommend the newer style jubilee. The solid construction and hidden clasp are definitely worth the upgrade from the older style which is prone to stretching.
It's true that the newer style cannot be micro-adjusted, but I don't know of any people who have let that stop them from buying one. Personally, I purchased a 1.25 link from an AD which made all the difference in getting the perfect fit. Cost was about $55. |

Without the question the super jubilee. I tried on an older DJ with an older jubilee and it felt weak by comparison. The new crown clasp is awesome too! Looks so much more high-end...

Except for the lack of the micro adjustment-which might be a problem for some people-the Super Jubilee is superior in every way. It's really beautiful looking too! Mark

Hello everybody - long time lurker - first time posting. I have the super jubilee on my DJ and really like the looks of it along with the hidden clasp. The super jubilee is comfortable, but the overall fit is a bit more snug compared to my GMTllC and Daytona. However, both of the those oyster bracelets have been micro adjusted. I do have a question about the 1.25 link that Kcmo mentioned. Does that link have the same physical appearance as the other jubilee links or does it look a bit larger? Also, is the 1.25 link the only other link option offered? Thanks...

I tried both before I purchased my DJ. I thought the super jubilee was much nicer than the old style and the non micro adjustment didn't bother me a bit.

I have both and they are good for different reasons. The older is lighter, but it rips your wrist hairs out! ouch.
The super feels heavier and more solid, but as Dan rightfully points out it doesn't have the micro adjustments. Shame now that it's so cold..

Although the super jubilee is a definite upgrade from the original don't dismiss the classic. Worn properly [on the snug side] and cleaned regularly it will last a lifetime. And like all jubilee bracelets, it's very comfortable.

When i wear my 16710 with the 62510H (old) jubilee bracelet is like i wear a feather on my wrist.
No problem with the wrist hairs or whatsoever. The micro adjustment is a very big plus. A toothpick and you're ready in seconds (the wrist size differs with worm or cold weather). It makes some chunkie sounds but is fun and if you follow what Dan said, it will last a life time |

Spot on, Panos. We tend to equate weight w/ quality. Sometimes I enjoy a lighter wearing watch that doesn't feel like a drag on my wrist. Plus, the classic jubilee adds to the vintage vibe that many collectors love.

Prefer the classic, when not on a strap.

Yes - I did ask the RSC in London about adding a 1/4 link but they said that such an option was not available......sounds as though they gave me some duff information!! In any event I also prefer a "proper" clasp and as a consequence I never got to like the concealed version on the new jubilee. At the end of the day though it is all down to personal preference....but in my view new is not always better

I have both. While new is far superior I don't think about or notice any difference when wearing.

Thank you for the reply Karis. I may need to purchase one or two of those 1.25 links in the future. Right now, it's snug and comfortable, but that may become too tight once winter moves out and summer moves in...

I have a couple of questions about the new heavy Jubilee with hidden clasp:
1. Is this the Super Jubilee? 2. Would the new Jubilee fit a 34mm Oyster Perpetual Date? I know this watch only comes with the oyster bracelet, but I was thinking about getting the watch and then some time down the road putting a new Jubilee bracelet with hidden clasp on it. 3. How much does a new Jubilee bracelet cost from an authorized dealer or a solid grey market dealer? Thanks. |

I've tried on the new jubilee and really liked it. I don't own a Rolex, but I've been thinking about getting one. I'm leaning towards the jubilee over the oyster bracelet.

Is it possible to replace the flip clasp with a hidden clasp on the jubilee bracelet?

I have both and prefer the old style as it is a little lighter and is much more adjustable. I have the one and a quarter link and still could not get the new bracelet to be a good fit.

The only option on the new Super Jubillee is the "1 1/4" link. It is 10 mm long, vs the regular link at 8 mm (therefore 1.25 as long.)
I needed an in between whole links in a big way so I bought two (2) "1 1/4 links". Then I can add 2 or 4 mm. Ended up I only use the 1, so the other is tucked away in case I need it some day in the future. While they are easily distinguished from a side view, I guarantee no one will ever notice on your wrist, trust me. When I visit an AD for the first time I'll often point it out the sales guy and most of them have never actually seen or sold one. In 18YG/SS TT it lists for $205 each buy my AD sold me them for $350 for 2 without me even asking for a discount. |

Old one can pop off your wrist. Super cant, its very sturdy feeling. No doubt a better band.
