AD in Los Angeles, getting your first rolex

After putting up a small poster of a Sub on my door for almost a year, and finally having the money to buy a Sub date, I find myself getting frustered at the un-willingness of any AD to negociate the price , I mean the watch is in demand but somethig to make me feel like I got a little of a deal, should I be looking out of state or pick one up in the Bahamas !!
thanks,
they say the 16610 is $5175 in LA and I saw one in the Bahmas for $4610

Just find a AD that will give you a bit of discount, cash normally works well.Good luck in your quest and welcome to TRF.

Find a good AD out of state who will sell you one. At least you will get out of state sales tax. Or take a short 2-3 day vacation to Hong Kong over a long weekend. You can find some really cheap rountrip tickets from LA to Hong Kong.

or fly to Cabos; visit local AD (same as in Cancun and Cozumel) and back. You can fly there and buy the watch and still save money. Cabos is duty free.

No dealer is under any obligation to meet your offering price and sell you a Rolex at a discount. A sale is made when both buyer and seller agree on a price.

If the dealer feels they can sell their Rolex watches at full price to someone else, that's there option. An AD has things like payroll, rent, utilities, taxes, inventory and profit to be concerned with and if you don't strike a deal, just move on to another dealer who is more flexible.

Generally, buyers tend to find the smaller AD jewelry stores more flexible than the larger chain stores. Discounts, when available, are greater on the solid gold and TT models than the SS models. If paying full retail just doesn't sit right, then the Los Angeles area is full of gray market dealers and so is the internet. Or if you're planning a trip out of the USA, the wait and buy your watch in any of the suggested areas you might be traveling to.

Don't be bitter or mad. Just spend some more time looking and everybody here is pretty sure you'll find your Rolex at a price below full retain and above wholesale that will make all parties happy.

Buying a Rolex for the first time is both exciting and frustrating. Secret "conceal your excitement for the watch, but rejoice when he hits your price" A car salesman once said to me! Isn't she beautiful! I responded! Yeah! but the price makes her ugly!
