Rolex discontinued editions

This is an expensive forum! I think the rolex bug has bitten me now I'm thinking of getting another rolex 50th anniversary green bezel, 16610LV if I'm not mistaken. Just to check is this a limited edition production? how many of them are in the market currently.

I'm in Singapore now and I noticed that I could not find it in the pre-owned market. any recommendations.

Which of the other models, specifically submariner are also limited? I heard of the highly regarded Oman rolexes. which are are there? maybe you will like to post some pictures where we can also refer to?

regards
angus

The LV is not limited. People have anticipated it being discontinued for a while now. Rumor has it that it simply commemorates 50 years.

In my opinion, Rolex produced way too many of them to be considered rare. It's not as common as the black Sub, but there are lots out there. In the last 2 months I've seen 3 LVs sitting in various AD windows. One had his for over a month before it sold.

Regardless, it's still one of my favorites

What is the difference between the LV and the normal submariner - besides the green bezel and the fatter dial hands

Differences

LV has the "Maxi Dial" Bigger indices and hands and the "Super Case" which I believe may be beefed up a bit relative to the regular sub. Please someone correct me if I'm mistaken.

You are partially right about the dial and hands....but the case is identical to the Sub-date 16610 and so is the bracelet.

Anyone can let me know what is the RRP for rolex LV in Singapore? Or is it cheaper for me to get it in Beijing? Do LV versions sell at a premium over RRP in either Singapore or Beijing?

thanks

The LV is not a limited edition, but rather a watch "to commemorate 50 years of the Submariner". To do this Rolex chose to equip a standard sub with a maxi-dial and minute hand and a green bezel insert (Corporate color).

No one knows how many were/are made--Rolex will not say. It currently remains a standard production item, although in less numbers than the Black.

Standard,

LV,

Lume,

New from an AD is hard to find in my area, I have seen them at other locations, usually above retail price.

The difference is basically around the resale value of the LV. There are potentially lot less of the LV's around and hence higher resale compare to other Subs. Not to mention there is a strong possibility that Rolex may discontinue the anniversary models and hence higher price premium on these watches.

Anyways, you should wait till the BLUE SUB with ceramic dial comes out -- that should make the prices of LVs drop.... eventhough SS BLUE Sub with ceramic dial may not be available for a long while.
